Transformers: Robots In Disguise To Air On Cartoon Network USA In Spring 2015

Yesterday (07/10/2014), it was announced that a new Transformers series called “Transformers: Robots In Disguise” will air on Cartoon Network USA in Spring 2015.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise will feature voice actors such as Darren Criss from Glee, Constance Zimmer from House of Cards, Mitchell Whitfield from TMNT and Ted McGinley from Married with Children. Unlike prior Transformers series, this version will be more colourful and cartoon looking than realistic, also with added humour.

In Robots In Disguise, Bumblebee must step up to be leader in the years after we left the Autobots in the most recent Transformers series, Transformers Prime. Summoned by Optimus Prime to save Earth from a new faction of Decepticons, Bumblebee puts his light-hearted mettle to the test after assembling a rogue team of young Autobots action heroes.

The new series was originally going to air on The Hub, but as Discovery wanted more control over the channel, renaming it as Discovery Family and is more girl and family orientated, Hasbro decided to partner up with Cartoon Network instead. Hasbro also co-produced Transformers: Animated with Cartoon Network Studios. Cartoon Network is already popular with boys aged between 6-14 and as Cartoon Network already partnered with Hasbro in the past, so it makes it a suitable home for the new Transformers series.

Stephen Davis, president of Hasbro Studios and global entertainment & licensing for Hasbro, Inc made this statement regarding the Transformers deal with Cartoon Network.

“We felt it was incumbent on us to take advantage of the opportunity to put it on a top rated network that performed well with boys. We have spent a lot of time listening to what kids like about Transformers and they haven’t been shy about giving us their opinions, and we have listened. ‘Robots in Disguise’ is reflective all that we have learned in our conversations with kids.”
