Toya Delazy Creates Theme Song For Powerpuff Girls For Cartoon Network Africa

Cartoon Network Africa has teamed up with Toya Delazy, a popular South African jazz-electro-hip-pop musician, to create an all-African, localised theme song for the reboot of The Powerpuff Girls. The African version of the theme song will be sung and produced by Delazy, her version will offer an alternate colourful and local interpretation of the U.S and international version produced by Tacocat.

Toya Delazy stated that the whole musical project was her childhood dream as The Powerpuff Girls was one of her favourite shows as a kid:

“When Cartoon Network approached me to localise the new Powerpuff Girls theme song recorded by US indie pop band, Tacocat, I first listened to the original song and I had an instant connection with the lyrics “fighting crime and saving the world before bedtime.” This was one of my childhood dreams growing up in South Africa and I am truly excited to be part of this amazing project.”

The Powerpuff Girls will premiere on Cartoon Network Africa on Saturday 30th April 2016 at 10.55am.
