Cartoon Network New York Comic Con 2016 Overview

New York Comic Con 2016 was full of different Cartoon Network events, such as panels, signings and a costume competition, so here’s a summary of the events that happened on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October.

Regular Show Panel

The first Cartoon Network panel was for Regular Show, this panel was a significant one as it will be the last ever panel for the show at a convention. JG Quintel (the show’s creator and voice of Mordecai) was joined with William Salyers (voice of Rigby), Roger Craig Smith (voice of Thomas/Nikolai and additional voices) and Janie Haddad (voice of Margaret).

During the session there was a live script reading and an Q&A segment. The panel was asked questions from the audience – like what items they would take into space (relating to the Regular Show: In Space story arc) and what was their favourite episode.

Steven Universe Panel

At the Steven Universe panel, the show’s creator – Rebecca Sugar was joined with Jennifer Paz (Voice of Lapis Lazuli), Shelby Rabara (Voice of Peridot), Tom Scharpling (voice of Greg), AJ Michalka (Stevonnie) and Charlyne Yi (Voice of Ruby). There was a Q&A session and also a exclusive performance of a song in an upcoming episode. Many fans were dressed up as their favourite characters from the show. Rebecca Sugar also did a book signing for her book based on an episode of the show – “The Answer”, this was an opportunity to meet and greet the show’s creator and to get a copy of the book signed.

The Powerpuff Girls Panel and Costume Ball

The last panel at New York Comic Con 2016 was for The Powerpuff Girls, Amanda Leighton (voice of Blossom), Kristen Li (voice of Bubbles), Natalie Palamides (voice of Buttercup) were joined with Haley Mancini (show writer and voice of Princess Morbucks).

The other event at New York Comic Con 2016 was a costume ball and prizes were given away for people with the best cartoon character costumes, the contest was judged by Kyle A. Carrozza (Creator of Mighty Magiswords), Jeremy Shada (Voice of Finn, Adventure Time), Charlyne Yi (Voice of Ruby, Steven Universe and Voice of Chloe, We Bare Bears) and Rebecca Sugar (Creator of Steven Universe). The winner was someone dressed as Yellow Diamond – a main villain in Steven Universe.

Cartoon Network will be returning to New York Comic Con this year and will be hosting a series of events on Friday 7th October and Saturday 8th October, this year there will be a cartoon character costume ball, a Steven Universe panel, a Powerpuff Girls panel and a final goodbye to Regular Show. The Regular Show panel will feature J.G. Quintel and William Salyers (the voice of Rigby), there will be a sneak peek of Regular Show: In Space as well as never seen before footage from inside the studio. Rebecca Sugar will be attending the Steven Universe panel and also to discuss her new book based on the series called “The Answer”, there will also be never seen before behind the scenes footage of Steven Universe at the panel.

Amanda Leighton (Voice of Blossom), Kristen Li (Voice of Bubbles), Natalie Palamides (Voice of Buttercup) and Haley Mancini (series writer and the voice of Princess Morbucks) will be attending The Powerpuff Girls panel, which will include a live performance, sneak peeks of upcoming episodes and an inside look on how the show is made.

There will also be a costume ball contest with some special guests as judges including Kyle A. Carrozza (Creator of Mighty Magiswords), Jeremy Shada (Voice of Finn from Adventure Time), Charlyne Yi (Voice of Ruby from Steven Universe and Voice of Chloe from We Bare Bears) and Rebecca Sugar (Creator of Steven Universe).

Cartoon Network Presents: The FINAL Regular Show Panel IN SPACE (…at the Hammerstein) 10.30am – 11.30am.

The countdown has begun. Grab your jet packs and rocket on OOOOOH-ver to Regular Show’s panel for its final season! Mordecai, Rigby and fellow park employees will take you on an odyssey through never-before-seen footage from inside the studio, along with a sneak peek of the new season of Regular Show…IN SPACE! Plus, you never know what special guests might beam up! Panelists include JG Quintel (Creator and Voice of Mordecai) and William Salyers (Voice of Rigby). Part of the back-to-back panel extravaganza followed by Steven Universe at 11.30 am.

Calling all Crystal Gems! Join Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar and friends to catch a glimpse of never-before-seen footage and an inside look at the making of Steven Universe! Rebecca will also talk about her new book, The Answer. And when the Crewniverse is around, things are bound to get musical. It is an experience – we’ll make sure it’s a good one! Part of the back-to-back panel extravaganza preceded by Regular Show at 10.30am.

Who’s got the power? We’ve got the power! Townsville’s toughest trio soars into New York Comic Con to save the day! Amanda Leighton (Voice of Blossom), Kristen Li (Voice of Bubbles) and Natalie Palamides (Voice of Buttercup) and bring sugar, spice and everything nice, respectively, to their LIVE performance as The Powerpuff Girls in a special table read. Joining them will be Haley Mancini, series writer and the voice of Princess Morbucks. Get ready to power it up with sneak peeks of upcoming episodes, an inside look at the show and even a few surprises!

San Diego Comic Con 2016 Cartoon Network Events

In the last four days (21/07/2016 – 24/07/2016), a lot has happened at the San Diego Comic-Con International 2016 convention, so here’s a summary of the rest of the Cartoon Network events.

John DiMaggio (voice of Jake the Dog), plays the Card Wars trading card game with Adventure Time fans, making Make-A-Wish kids’ dreams come true, another Make-A-Wish family met the cast of Steven Universe.

The Cartoon Network Collective stand, showcasing high-quality artwork of Cartoon Network’s most popular shows with autographs given out by the artists:

Amanda Leighton (voice actress for Blossom in The Powerpuff Girls reboot series) taken over Cartoon Network’s twitter account. The cast of The Powerpuff Girls appeared at an autograph signing event and Q&A panel and promoted the new toy range, also there was a sneak preview for an upcoming Powerpuff Girls episode.

Powerpuff Girls writers Haley Mancini and Jake Goldman joined the IDW Comics Kids panel:

Zach Callison (voice of Steven Universe) taken over Cartoon Network’s Twitter account for a behind-the-scenes sneak peek behind the Steven Universe musical panel:

There was also a special sneak peek of the Beach City Drift episode:

Lucky fans got to meet the We Bare Bears cast Eric Edelstein (Grizz), Bobby Moynihan (Panda) and Demetri Martin (Ice Bear) in an autograph session, Eric Edelstein also taken over Cartoon Network’s Twitter account.

We Bare Bears fans got to ask Daniel Chong (the show’s creator) as well as the rest of the cast and crew questions about the show at the panel:

A special We Bare Bears sneak-peek featuring Ice Bear showing off his cool (in both senses of the word) new mode of transportation was shown during the panel:

Over The Garden Wall creator – Patrick McHale did a special signing session for convention exclusive copies of Tome of the Unknown and he also took part in a comics panel.

Teen Titans Go! panel and autograph signings with the cast and crew at the Warner Bros. booth:

The cast and crew for Warner Bros. Animation’s upcoming new series – Justice League Action were also at the Warner Bros. booth, meeting and greeting fans:
