44th Annie Awards Nominations Shortlist

ASIFA-Hollywood has released their nominations shortlist for the 44th Annie Awards. The Annie Awards is an annual awards ceremony to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the art of animation, an Annie Award is a highly regarded accolade for excellence in the field of animation.

According to the shortlist, Cartoon Network has been awarded four nominations, three for the special stop-motion episode of Adventure Time – Bad Jubies (Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production For Children, Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production and Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production) and one for the Long Live The Royals episode called “Punk Show” (Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production).

The Outstanding Achievement, Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production award was nominated specifically for Kirsten Lepore for her work as director on the Adventure Time: Bad Jubies special. The Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production was nominated specifically for Jason Kolowski for his Production Design work on the Adventure Time: Bad Jubies special.

The 44th Annie Awards will be held at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California on Saturday 4th February 2017.

Warner Bros. (sister company of Turner, the owners of Cartoon Network) has been nominated for two awards, one for the 3D CGI motion picture – Storks (Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production) by Warner Animation Group and another one for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production) by Warner Bros. Animation.

The Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production was nominated specifically for Katie Crown for her voice acting work as the voice of Tulip in the movie. The Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production award was nominated specifically for composers Kristopher Carter, Lolita Ritmanis and Michael McCuistion.

Cartoon Network UK Adventure Time Bad Jubies Special Premieres 30th May

Cartoon Network UK and Ireland will air the Adventure Time Bad Jubies stop-motion animated special on Monday 30th May at 9am at the very start of the Adventure Time marathon. The Adventure Time Bad Jubies episode was specially made using stop-motion animation instead of 2D animation typically used in episodes. In this episode Finn, Jake, Lumpy Space Princess and BMO dig underground to shelter themselves from a big storm with a bad attitude.

The Adventure Time marathon is a part of the Half Term Marathons on Cartoon Network. For the Half Term Marathons, Cartoon Network UK will air a marathon for a different show every day during the school holidays from Saturday 28th May to Friday 3rd June.

The June School Half Term Holidays are here! Cartoon Network UK and Ireland will be airing a marathon for a different show every day. Each marathon will start with a new episode at 9am, marathons will run from Saturday 28th May to Friday 3rd June.

Marathons will run daily from 9am to 4pm, the schedule is as of follows:

Saturday 28th May: The Amazing World of Gumball
Sunday 29th May: Regular Show
Monday 30th May: Adventure Time (Includes the new Bad Jubies stop-motion episode at 9am)
Tuesday 31st May: We Bare Bears
Wednesday 1st June: Teen Titans Go!
Thursday 2nd June: Clarence
Friday 3rd June: The Amazing World of Gumball
