Everyone’s favourite crime-battling superpowered girls – The Powerpuff Girls will be a video-on-demand exclusive on Hulu from early 2017 in the United States. Hulu now has episodes from the original 1998-2005 series and the new 2016 reboot series. Another Cartoon Network original – Chowder will be added to Hulu soon, an animated show about a cat-bear-rabbit with an obsession with food and is always cooking crazy and imaginative recipes.

From today (22/11/2016), A collection of Powerpuff Girls specials and fan-favorite episodes from the original series are now available to watch on the Hulu video streaming service.

Hulu already holds exclusive U.S. VOD rights over Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, Regular Show and Steven Universe. Hulu and Turner agreed an VOD distribution deal in April last year and Time Warner brought a 10% minority stake in Hulu as of August this year.

Turner UK And Virgin Media Renew Distribution Deal Also VOD Content

Today (11/11/2016), British and Irish cable television operator Virgin Media have renewed their distribution deal with Turner UK, the deal includes the continued carriage of Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, TCM and CNN International. As part of the deal, Virgin Media Ireland customers will now receive Cartoon Network HD, alongside the existing standard definition channel. Virgin Media UK customers will continue to receive HD versions of Cartoon Network and TCM. No news has been announced regarding Boomerang HD on Virgin Media’s cable television service yet.

As part of the deal, Turner’s children’s channels will also provide content for a 30 days catchup VOD (Video On-Demand) service as well as on-demand boxsets of Cartoon Network’s, Boomerang’s and Cartoonito’s most popular shows including Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, Regular Show, Scooby Doo, Mr Bean: The Animated Series, The Tom and Jerry Show and Fireman Sam.

Virgin Media’s parent company – Liberty Global is one of Turner’s largest channel distribution partners in Europe which also has cable television services in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Eastern Europe.

David Bouchier, Virgin Media’s chief Digital Entertainment officer made this statement in regards to the renewed and expanded deal with Turner:

Turner USA and AT&T (owners of the USA-based satellite television platform DirecTV and IPTV platform U-verse) have renewed their distribution deal to continue carrying Turner’s channels on AT&T’s TV platforms, including Cartoon Network USA and Boomerang USA. The multi-year agreement has been expanded to include comprehensive TV Everywhere rights, this will allow DirecTV and U-verse customers to stream Turner’s channels and access on-demand content on a wide selection of platforms and mobile/home media devices. The agreement also includes digital rights for AT&T’s upcoming streaming service – DirecTV Now.

DirecTV Now will be launching towards the end of this year, the new OTT (Over The Top, i.e. TV streaming via an internet connection) service will offer its customers a selection of 100 channels and on-demand content from the main television networks in the United States, there’s no long-term contract, it’s open to non-AT&T/DirecTV customers, and no satellite dish or special equipment is required as the content is streamed to the subscriber via their internet connection.

AT&T and global media company Turner have announced a multi-year, multiplatform agreement for Turner’s leading portfolio of networks on AT&T U-verse and the DIRECTV satellite TV platform. The wide-ranging agreement also includes comprehensive TV Everywhere rights, allowing DIRECTV and AT&T U-verse customers to stream Turner’s live and on-demand content across a variety of platforms and devices, and offer digital rights for the upcoming DIRECTV NOW and DIRECTV Freeview, AT&T’s new streaming services.

DIRECTV NOW, launching in the fourth quarter of this year, will offer customers more than 100 channels, including live and on-demand programming from top networks, as well as premium add-on options. AT&T and DIRECTV customers will be able to access and stream the service over a wired or wireless Internet connection using a variety of connected devices without requiring additional hardware, satellites, long-term contracts or credit checks.
