Kidscreen Awards 2017 Cartoon Network Nominations

Cartoon Network has been nominated for three 2017 Kidscreen Awards. The Kidscreen Awards, is organised by children’s media news website – Kidscreen, the awards celebrates the best in children’s TV production, broadcasting and digital media.

Cartoon Network Studios’ We Bare Bears has been nominated in the Best Animated Series category and Cartoon Network Games’ The Powerpuff Girls: Flipped Out has been nominated for best game app for Tablet devices and Teen Titans Go!: Teeny Titans has been nominated for an award in the Best Smartphone App category. Winners will be announced at a special presentation event during Kidscreen Summit 2017 in Miami, Florida, USA on Tuesday 14th February 2017.

All children’s programming nominations will be reviewed and assessed by a panel of judges from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada including Andy Yeatman (Netflix), Sarah Muller (Channel 5), Amy Friedman (Sprout), Lucy Murphy (Sky), Grainne Rowe (Disney Channel EMEA), Jackie Edwards (BBC Children’s), Andrew Thomas (Hulu), Nina Hahn (Nickelodeon International) and Deirdre Brennan (Corus Kids, licencee of Cartoon Network Canada).

All digital media nominations will be reviewed and assessed by experts from the digital media industry including Angela Lin (YouTube), Azadeh Jamalian (Tiggly), Bill Shribman (WGBH), Jens Peter de Pedro (Monkimun), David Kleeman (Dubit), Eric Huang (Made in Me), Daniel Bays (Lightning Sprite Media) and Brenda Bisner (Baby Toes Media).

44th Annie Awards Nominations Shortlist

ASIFA-Hollywood has released their nominations shortlist for the 44th Annie Awards. The Annie Awards is an annual awards ceremony to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the art of animation, an Annie Award is a highly regarded accolade for excellence in the field of animation.

According to the shortlist, Cartoon Network has been awarded four nominations, three for the special stop-motion episode of Adventure Time – Bad Jubies (Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production For Children, Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production and Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production) and one for the Long Live The Royals episode called “Punk Show” (Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production).

The Outstanding Achievement, Directing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production award was nominated specifically for Kirsten Lepore for her work as director on the Adventure Time: Bad Jubies special. The Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production was nominated specifically for Jason Kolowski for his Production Design work on the Adventure Time: Bad Jubies special.

The 44th Annie Awards will be held at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California on Saturday 4th February 2017.

Warner Bros. (sister company of Turner, the owners of Cartoon Network) has been nominated for two awards, one for the 3D CGI motion picture – Storks (Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production) by Warner Animation Group and another one for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production) by Warner Bros. Animation.

The Outstanding Achievement, Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production was nominated specifically for Katie Crown for her voice acting work as the voice of Tulip in the movie. The Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production award was nominated specifically for composers Kristopher Carter, Lolita Ritmanis and Michael McCuistion.

The Amazing World Of Gumball Nominated At British Animation Awards

An episode of The Amazing World of Gumball called “The Shell” has been nominated in the Best Children’s Series and Children’s Choice Award category at the 2016 British Animation Awards. The episode tells the story of when Penny (an anthromorphic peanut) literally cracks open her shell and reveals her true self to Gumball, due to a misunderstanding from Gumball’s stunned response because of her new appearance, she shapeshifts into different uncontrollable monsters, Gumball follows her into the forest to resolve the situation and to officially begin their relationship.

The episode was written by Ben Bocquelet, Guillaume Cassuto, Tom Crowley and Tobi Wilson, and was storyboarded by Aurelie Charbonnier with Teresa Gallagher voice acting as Penny. The 2016 British Animation Awards will be held on 10th March 2016 at the BFI (British Film Institute) Southbank in London.
