Boing Africa To Launch On 30th May

Today (09/04/2015), it was announced that Turner Broadcasting System will launch Boing Africa on 30th May. The new channel will complement Cartoon Network and Boomerang in terms of children’s content and will put the continent in line with Cartoon Network’s operations in Southern Europe. Boing also has a presence in Spain, acting as Turner’s primary and only children’s channel and as a programming block on Cartoon Network Turkey. Similar to the other markets where Boing is present, Boing Africa will target the 4 to 14 age group and its content will appeal to both boys and girls.

At or after launch, the new channel will air animated programming Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Codename: Kids Next Door, Angelo Rules and Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk. Also included in the initial schedule will be animated action shows including Batman, Green Lantern and Thundercats. Turner’s first carriage deal for Boing Africa is with Montage, a satellite TV provider operating from Nigeria and carriage deals with other satellite, digital terrestrial, mobile and IPTV providers are in progress in countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia and Tanzania.

Pierre Branco, vice president and general manager of Turner Southern Europe and Africa made this statement in regards of the launch of Boing Africa on 30th May.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Boing to Africa as it will diversify the programs currently made available to our younger clientele and we are certain they will enjoy this new exciting experience. We believe this is the first step to expanding our brands to all African families”.
