Cartoon Network Anything Coming To Europe From Late October
Last weekend (03/10/2015 – 04/10/2015) was the MIPJunior convention in Cannes, France, one of the most important conventions for the kids entertainment industry. During Cartoon Network’s time in Cannes they announced that the Cartoon Network Anything mobile app will be rolled out across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region from the end of October. The Cartoon Network Anything app already had a successful launch in the United States and Australia, now it’s the EMEA region’s turn. The new app features short format video clips from Cartoon Network animated shows, typically 10 to 15 seconds each combined with mini-games and quizzes. Recently, Cartoon Network has been making steps to retain its viewers by offering mobile apps to complement the TV channel as mobile is a growing platform for entertainment. The free app will be released for iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play).

Cartoon Network EMEA will launch a digital service later this month, providing a new user experience to the mobile marketplace. Cartoon Network Anything is a fast-paced micro-network, offering fun and funny, bite-sized content for mobiles and tablets. This free app, available for iOS and Android, will be rolling out across the region from the end of October.
Cartoon Network Anything is the channel’s latest effort to engage directly with fans. Creating a platform-specific experience tailored exclusively for small screens, Cartoon Network Anything is an ever-growing stream of games, activities, trivia and clips, each lasting an average of 10 to 15 seconds. Upon enjoying an item, fans will advance to the next page by simply swiping their screens. The perpetually-updated stream of content is delivered randomly but will be aligned with each market’s linear programming schedule – providing entertainment that feels both immediate and infinite, and offering viewers a seamless transition from TV to portable screens.
“Cartoon Network Anything is an innovative way to reinterpret what it means to be a ‘network’ on various platforms,” said Patricia Hidalgo, SVP and Chief Content Officer, Kids, Turner Broadcasting System EMEA. “The small screen was the focus from the beginning, both with regards to the content itself and its delivery method – and the result is an experience that feels entirely natural to the medium, to fans of our channel and Cartoon Network as a whole. This is a one-of-a-kind service that has proven a great success in the US over the past year and we’re excited to now be bringing it to fans of the channel in EMEA.”
Cartoon Network Anything also offers an entirely new platform on which to premiere original IP – trialled earlier this year with the premiere of the network’s first digital-first series, Mighty Magiswords. Whether shorts from Cartoon Network Studios or games from independent developers, Cartoon Network Anything will give fans a taste of exciting new Cartoon Network content. Using the “like” functionality, fans will be able to share their feelings about the content, offering the channel preliminary feedback to help inform future development.
In addition to bringing a first-of-its-kind digital offering to fans, Cartoon Network Anything will also provide new sponsorship opportunities for Cartoon Network’s business partners. A perfect platform for native advertising, Cartoon Network Anything invites innovative sponsored content that suits the medium and that will feel organic to the overall micro-network.
