Grizzy and the Lemmings Broadcasting Rights Deal Finalised
Yesterday (02/10/2015), it was announced that Turner Broadcasting System has finalised the acquisition deal for the broadcasting rights for Grizzy and the Lemmings. The new show will air on Boomerang feeds worldwide from Autumn 2016, including Boomerang USA. Back in June, Turner arranged a pre-sales deal for the new 3D CGI show with Studio Hari and France Télévisions, not long after the 2015 Annecy Animation Festival. Grizzy and the Lemmings is a new “classic style”, non-dialogue, family comedy following the hilarious happenings of Grizzy the bear and a troublesome tribe of Lemmings as they attempt to live in a forest ranger’s house in a forest in rural Canada.
Cecilia Persson, vice president of acquisitions & co-productions for Turner Broadcasting International made this statement about the Grizzy and the Lemmings:
“Grizzy and the Lemmings is fun and innovative whilst also maintaining the DNA of a timeless, classic animation. It is a great fit for the Boomerang brand and will sit perfectly alongside content like the much-loved Hannah Barbera classic, Tom & Jerry.”
Adina Pitt, vice president of acquisitions & co-productions for Turner, Cartoon Network and Boomerang US also made a statement regarding the broadcasting rights deal:
“Following our most recent worldwide multi-original series deal with Warner Bros. for Boomerang this acquisition continues our overall strategy to build Boomerang as a strong second flagship global Kids network complementary to Cartoon Network.”
Josselin Charier, co-founder of Studio Hari made this statement about the broadcasting deal with Turner’s Boomerang channel worldwide:
“We couldn’t expect to find a broadcasting partner more aligned with the editorial positioning of our latest creation, a new classic physical comedy for the whole family. We know that Grizzy and the Lemmings have found in Boomerang their real home, a place to live and fight with each other for a long time! The worldwide broadcasting on Boomerang will give the best possible exposure to the show – and help us to make Grizzy and the Lemmings a strong long-term global brand, just like the loveable classic cartoons in its portfolio.”
