Yesterday (30/05/2016), UK DTH (Direct-To-Home) satellite television provider – Sky, opened the Sky Kids Café at The Vinyl Factory in London. Open only for a limited time between Monday 30th May through to Wednesday 1st June, The Sky Kids Café offers children the exciting chance to step into the worlds of some of their favourite TV shows, which are now available through the new Sky Kids app. The cafe provides an interactive experience as its an opportunity to try out the new Sky Kids App and to watch some of the shows it has to offer.

The café features a Scooby-Doo haunted house as an imaginative play area, where kids can solve mysteries and meet Boomerang’s very own Scooby-Doo! The café also features Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants’ pineapple home and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom.

The Sky Kids app features thousands of episodes of kids’ favourite shows in an app that’s just for them. It features 16 of the 20 highest-rated shows (including top shows on Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Cartoonito), all available on demand and gives them their own profile with shows tailored to their age. Sky Kids is available to download now from both Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The app will work on 3G/4G and Wi-Fi and is available at no extra cost for customers with the Sky Family or Variety bundle or Sky Q.

To promote the return of The Powerpuff Girls to Cartoon Network, Cartoon Network Arabic sent out drone-mounted models of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup into the sky in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. To the surprise of tourists and residents, The Powerpuff Girls went on a city tour flying past famous locations such as the Burj Al Arab hotel, Jumeirah Beach Residences, Kite Beach and world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The Powerpuff Girls is among Cartoon Network’s most successful animated shows; since its introduction as a full series in 1998, the show has won two Emmys and even had a theatrical release.

This August, the IMG World of Adventures indoor theme park will open in Dubai, the theme park will feature a Cartoon Network Zone including a Powerpuff Girls themed ride.

Cartoon Network USA New Check It 4.5 Graphics Refresh

Cartoon Network USA introduced a refresh of its on-screen graphics today (30/05/2016) for the start of the summer, the updated graphics package is known as “Check It 4.5” by Cartoon Network fans (officially called “Dimensional”). The new rebrand package is a continuous iteration of the “Check It” family of graphic rebrands that first started in 2010, every iteration of “Check It” has been unified by a common font scheme (Gotham and Lubalin Graph) and a Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black colour scheme.

The Dimensional graphics package has Check It 1.0’s use of CMYK dominate solid colours and Check It 4.0’s colourful character symbols, in essence, its a tweaked version of Check It 4.0. The new graphics package also has 3D versions of the cartoon character symbols.

Meanwhile, the creative graphics teams for Cartoon Network Europe, Middle East and Africa have been developing their implementation of Check It 4.0 as demonstrated in this video on Vimeo:
