Cartoon Network Africa Imagination Studios Winners
Cartoon Network Africa have announced their winners in their inaugural Cartoon Network Imagination Studios competition. Cartoon Network Imagination Studios is a competition where kids can explore their creativity, by either drawing an original cartoon character, storyboarding a short cartoon or make their own stop-motion animation. Kids can get advice and inspiration from Cartoon Network’s top creative talent and show creators on the Imagination Studios microsite. The competition had a total of 5,159 entries.
The winners are 10-year-old Tiffany Obasohan from Nigeria in the drawing category for drawing an ice cream younger sister for Sarah in The Amazing World of Gumball. Nyasha Mazarura, an 11-year-old from South Africa, won in the movie category for a stop-motion animation of two Peanut Butter and Jelly toastie superheroes battling a pepper shaker and 11-year-old Onyamaechi Christian Yobo from Nigeria, won in the storyboard category for a Spidermonkey vs Lion Lord wrestling match storyboard. Congratulations to those who won!
Pierre Branco, VP, Turner Southern Europe and Africa, stated that the Imagination Studios website was a milestone for Cartoon Network’s commitment for children to use their creative skills:
“The website is an important milestone in the network’s commitment to helping children learn and develop their skills online – using the channel’s affinity with young audiences to do so. With Cartoon Network Imagination Studios, the channel would like to provide children with the unique opportunity to express their creativity through whichever medium they like best.”
As part of their prize package, the winners’ entries will be turned into an animation which will air on Cartoon Network Africa in mid-August.
