During this week (12th February to 15th February) in Miami, Florida, USA is the annual Kidscreen Summit. The Kidscreen Summit is organised by children’s media news website – Kidscreen, and is a yearly gathering of the children’s television and digital media industry from inside and outside the United States.

Today (13th February) and alongside the summit is the annual Kidscreen Awards ceremony, this year, Cartoon Network USA’s VP Content Acquisitions & Co-Productions – Adina Pitt and CN’s VP of Product Management – Beau Teague will be two of the judges for this year’s awards. Studio Hari’s Grizzy and the Lemmings has been nominated for Best Animated Show, the show airs on Boomerang’s international feeds.

Yesterday (12/02/2018), Adina was a speaker at the “Broadcaster to Broadcaster: Focus on 6 to 11s” panel, which was about the current state of kids content between the ages of six and eleven years old what it means for producers and linear and non-linear platforms, at the session, Adina emphasised that great storytelling will always be more valued to its audience in comparison to the actual method of how the content is viewed, today she had her own thirty-minute Q&A session and she was also present at the “Picking Platforms: What’s the best vehicle for your project and how do you get it there?” panel.

The VP of Cartoon Network Enterprises North America – Pete Yoder will be a speaker at the “Consumer Products as a Storytelling Platform” panel later today. Cecilia Persson, VP of Programming & Content Strategy Kids EMEA, Acquisitions & Co Productions International for Turner had her own thirty minute Q&A session at the summit today.

The Shaw Rocket Fund, a non-profit organisation that invests into children’s television in Canada has announced that Cartoon Network UK and Cartoon Network Africa have acquired the broadcasting rights to one of Canada’s latest animated shows – Wishfart. Kidscreen named Wishfart as “a cool new show”.
