Steven Universe And Adventure Time Nominated For 2019 GLAAD Award For Outstanding Kids And Family Programming
The nomination list for the 2019 GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards has been publicly released and Cartoon Network Studios’ Steven Universe and Adventure Time have been nominated for an award in the “Outstanding Kids And Family Programming” category. The GLAAD Media Awards celebrates the best of television and film with character representation from the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) community. In 2018, Steven Universe was nominated in the same category (the first year the category was introduced) and 2017 Steven Universe was nominated for GLAAD Media Award in the “Outstanding Comedy Series” category.
Both Steven Universe and Adventure Time both feature same-sex relationships, but in Steven Universe its more of a running theme, especially the relationship and marriage between Ruby and Sapphire (the two gems that forms Garnet), in the Adventure Time finale, it was revealed that Princess Bubblegum and Marceline are dating.
In the same category, Adventure Time and Steven Universe is competing against Disney Channel’s Andi Mack and two Netflix shows She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and Anne with an E.
The 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday 28th March and at the Hilton Midtown hotel in New York on Saturday 4th May.
