Today (21st June), NENT (Nordic Entertainment) Group and Turner has announced that the Turner’s young-adult entertainment brand – Adult Swim will be launching on Viafree this summer. The content will consist of animation and action-comedy series for young adults and will be available on the free online streaming service from Wednesday 1st August. The new Adult Swim branded section will be available on the Viafree platform in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, with hundreds of episodes already at launch and new episodes added every month and will be subtitles in local languages. Programming includes Adult’s Swim’s most popular and infamous animated series, such as the multiple Emmy-award winning Robot Chicken and newer shows including Hot Streets and The Jellies, along with the manic and bizarre chat show – The Eric Andre Show and also the very dark but cute Mr. Pickles. The critically-acclaimed Samurai Jack will also be added to the new Adult Swim section on Viafree.

Turner hopes to expand and further establish its young adult entertainment brand in markets outside the United States. In the United States, Adult Swim is the number one basic cable channel for people aged between 18-34 and also the wider age group 18-49, the programming block which is a part of Cartoon Network but treated separately for demographic, editorial and viewing rating reasons is available in 94 million homes in the United States, with access to Adult Swim’s content though its digital services, including the Adult Swim website and the app.

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) and Turner announced today that the Turner-owned Adult Swim brand will be launching on Viafree this summer. The content, consisting of animated and live-action comedy series for young adults, will be available on Viafree from August 1.

The Adult Swim branded section will be available on Viafree in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland with hundreds of episodes already at launch, and new content added every month. The content will be subtitled into local languages.

The comprehensive line up of programming will include the latest seasons of Adult Swim’s current line-up, from the multi-Emmy award-winning Robot Chicken, to the star-studded The Eric Andre Show and Mr Pickles, featuring the voice talent Brooke Shields. It will also include some of Adult Swim’s best loved shows from its rich archive, such as cult hit Samurai Jack and brand-new titles Hot Streets and Jellies. All shows will be available on Viafree from August 1st.

Turner EMEA Launches Toonix OTT Streaming Service In Scandinavia

Today (20th June), Turner EMEA has announced its first direct-to-consumer service for kids – Toonix. The OTT (Over The Top, meaning a service provided over a standard internet connection) streaming service – Toonix will have its very own app in the Nordic (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland) region later this summer and will include all national languages as well as English. The new service will be ad-free and will feature a comprehensive animation library including animated shows and movies from Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and also third-party and local productions. The app has been designed for kids in mind, offers an easy to use interface and also games.

In the Nordics region, the Toonix brand launched in 2017 as a branded kids section as part of HBO Nordic’s service, Toonix is available to HBO Nordic’s subscribers at no extra cost. Alongside with the partnership of Turner’s and Warner Bros. sister company – HBO, Toonix will now be available as a direct to consumer service. The service will feature popular cartoons including Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go!, Peppa Pig, The Amazing World of Gumball, Scooby-Doo, Barbapapa, Masha and the Bear, Bamse and the City of Thieves and Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite.

The Toonix brand originated from Cartoon Network’s avatar character maker as seen on several Cartoon Network websites all over the world, where kids can create a cute version of themselves or recreate a popular cartoon character. Many of these Toonix characters can been seen on the streaming service. Cartoon Network Latin America also had a branding era called “Toonix” which features many of Cartoon Network’s characters in Toonix form, this was also Cartoon Network Latin America’s version of Cartoon Network USA’s Noods era.

Turner EMEA announced today its first-ever direct-to-consumer kids OTT service, with the launch of the Toonix app across the Nordic region later this summer. The new ad-free service caters to kids (ages 3-12) and their families, offering some of the most popular shows and movies. Through curated content and fun features, this direct-to-consumer app has been designed with kids in mind and offers them a bespoke user experience, enhanced with the addition of a variety of engaging games for them to play in a safe environment.

Bliss, also known as the fourth and original Powerpuff Girl is back in a brand new special 22-minute episode coming to Cartoon Network UK this Friday (22nd June) at 8pm. Britain’s Got Talent judge – Alesha Dixon has returned to voice Bliss once again for the UK variant of the Never Been Blissed special. Just like Alesha in the UK, many guest celebrities voice actresses have returned to voice Bliss, including Wengie in Australia, Claudia Tagbo in France, Toya Delazy in South Africa and also Olivia Olson in the original U.S. dub.

Bliss is the older sister of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup and unlike her younger sisters, she was created using Chemical W instead of Chemical X during Professor Utonium’s ongoing experiments to create the perfect little girl. Bliss has returned from outer space, which was where she went at the end of the Power of Four special, she has returned to track down a deadly parasitic alien on the loose in Townsville called “The Sporde”, it’s up to The Powerpuff Girls to stop it before the big school dance and before it turns Bliss’s new crush – Logan into a terrifying monster.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon returns as the voice of Bliss in the The Powerpuff Girls special: Never Been Blissed. Bliss is the teenage sister to Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who has returned from outer space to help her superhero sisters hunt down a deadly alien on the loose in Townsville. The Powerpuff Girls special: Never Been Blissed featuring Alesha Dixon premieres on Friday 22nd June at 8pm on Cartoon Network.

Alesha Dixon’s character, Bliss first made an epic entrance onto the screens last October and now she’s back for a special 22-minute episode, The Powerpuff Girls: Never Been Blissed. The episode sees Bliss and her sisters track down a deadly alien called ‘The Sporde’. With this parasitic alien on the loose, it’s up to Bliss, Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup to stop it before the big school dance, and before it turns Bliss’ new crush Logan into a deadly monster.
