Cartoon Network At Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival 2019 16th February: New Pilots Wingits And Splitting Time

On Saturday 16th February, Cartoon Network Studios will be at Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival (BAICFF) 2019 for a panel called “How Did They Do That?: Cartoon Network Shorts: Making Your Favorite TV Shows”. CN will be giving visitors a behind the scenes sneak peek of what goes on behind Cartoon Network’s popular animated shows, plus a glimpse on how Cartoon Network develop its shows through their International Shorts Development Programme. Festival goers will get the chance to watch some new shows currently being developed through CN’s programme.

Present at the panel will be the Leticia “Lele” Silva, the creator of the animated short – “Wingits”, and Madeleine “Maddy” Flores and J. Smith, the co-creators of the animated short – “Mushroom” aka “Mushroom and the Forest of the World”. Maddy also voices the main character in “Mushroom”. The panel will be moderated by Cartoon Network’s Vice President of Original Series Development, Asalle Tanha. Leticia, Maddy and J. Smith, along with Asalle will be providing an insight on how animated projects get developed from inception to completed animated short/pilot. Mushroom had its debut at the 2018 KLIK Animation Festival in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Wingits will make its world premiere debut at the BAICFF 2019 CN event.

In addition to Wingits and Mushroom, two more shorts from Cartoon Network Studios will be screened at the festival “Pops and Branwell” – created by Aleks Sennwald and Pete Toms and debuting for the first time at the festival – “Splitting Time” created by Gleb Sanchez-Lobashov. Both Pops and Branwell and Splitting Time will have screenings on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th February.

Pops and Branwell follows the titular kid detectives who suspect a traitor in their squad as they chase a soup-robbing thief. In Splitting Time, Coen has to choose whether he will celebrate his 11th birthday with his mom in the 27th century or his Dad in the 1990s.

The 2019 edition of the Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival will be held at Chabot Science and Space Center located in Oakland, California, USA (near San Francisco in the metropolitan Bay Area), the Cartoon Network Studios panel will be held in the Megadome at 12pm on Saturday 16th February.

BAICFF calls itself “an annual Playdate for the Imagination™ where education and imagination collide”. The films shown at the festival are supposed to develop curiosity and to show children a wide range of cultural perspectives.
