Adventure Time Movie Currently In Development And To Be Released In Cinemas

On Friday (27/02/2015), Cartoon Network released information to announcing that an Adventure Time movie is now in production and will be released in cinemas, the movie will be made by Cartoon Network Studios and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, Cartoon Network’s sister company. Pendleton Ward, the show’s creator, will have involvement in the writing and producing of the movie even after concerns that his role on the show has been reduced. The animated film will be produced by Chris McKay and Roy Lee, Chris McKay is known for his role as executive producer for The Lego Movie and is presently directing the Lego Batman movie, while Roy Lee, who also worked with Chris McKay on The Lego Movie, is also currently producing the new Lego Batman movie.

Adventure Time is often regarded as Cartoon Network’s most popular current series and has been a ratings phenomenon worldwide, so successful that other TV channels worldwide have brought broadcasting rights to air the show and also the wide range of merchandise available. The reason behind its success is the limitless amount of stories that could be produced and the different personalities of all the characters on the show which maximizes the show’s potential. The shows premise is about a 12-year-old boy named Finn and his best friend/brother dog named Jake who go on adventures to protect the Land of Ooo or just go on adventures for the fun of it.

Cartoon Network Signs Deal With Spin Master For Powerpuff Girls Toys

Cartoon Network has signed a toy deal with Spin Master to manufacture Powerpuff Girls toys for the 2016 reboot of the animated series. The toy deal will allow Spin Master to create toys including plush, figures and playsets, dolls remote control toys, and novelty items. The product range will start rolling out to stores in the 3rd Quarter of 2016.

Pete Yoder, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises, North America made this statement in regards with the deal with Spin Master:

“As we build our roster of partners to launch The Powerpuff Girls licensing programme and introduce a new generation of fans to this cherished franchise, Spin Master embodies the qualities we’re looking to infuse into our products. Working together, we’ve seen firsthand the level of innovation and excitement they bring to their products, and we’re confident that through play, The Powerpuff Girls toy line will empower fans of all ages to believe that like Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup, they, too, can save the world before bedtime.”

Craig Sims, Spin Master’s vice president global licensing also commented about the Powerpuff Girls toy deal:

“The partnership between The Powerpuff Girls and Spin Master strengthens our strategic relationship with Cartoon Network that began with the launch of the award-winning Bakugan brand in 2008 and is the perfect brand to continue pushing the boundaries of fun for our consumers. Together, we’re creating unexpected and highly interactive play experiences you won’t find anywhere else.”

Cartoon Network Acquires Global Broadcast Rights To New Transformers: Robots In Disguise Animated Series

Yesterday, it was announced that Cartoon Network had brought the broadcasting rights to air Hasbro Studio’s Transformers: Robots in Disguise series in the US, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. It was already announced last October, that the new Transformers animated series was going to premiere on Cartoon Network USA in Spring 2015.

Hasbro’s chief content officer, Stephen Davis made this statement regarding the Transformers broadcasting rights deal:

We are thrilled to have expanded our ongoing international relationship with Cartoon Network, freeing them to unleash our Transformers characters to the entire world starting early this year. Fans everywhere will now be able to experience the humor, fun, adventure and cooler, lighter, brighter animated style that our Autobots and Decepticons deliver as we open up the next storytelling chapter in this beloved franchise.
