Turner Asia-Pacific Appoints Leslie Lee As Head Of Kids Content

Today (15th April), Turner Asia-Pacific has appointed Leslie Lee as Vice President of Kids Content, in his new role, Leslie will oversee Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Pogo in the Asia Pacific region. From today, Leslie will be based at Turner’s offices in Singapore and will be responsible for programming, operations, brand and franchise management as well as content for the three kids brands.

In total, Leslie has more than two decades’ experience in the entertainment industry in the Asia-Pacific region, including 19 years working with kids media brands on both linear TV and digital content distribution.

Leslie has previously worked for MediaCorp, Viacom and he was recently Executive Director of Media Networks at Disney Southeast Asia, he joined Disney in 2007. He has worked in multiple aspects of children’s entertainment broadcasting including marketing communications, programming, channel management, content localisation and acquisitions, animation development and media distribution.

In addition to his usual job, Leslie also volunteers his time mentoring media students in various higher learning institutions in Singapore, he also sits on the programming committee at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content and is a board member of Centre 42, a Singapore-based non-profit playwriting organisation.

Leslie Lee has been named Vice President of Kids Content, overseeing Cartoon Network, Boomerang and POGO networks in Asia Pacific, and assumes the role today.

Based in Singapore, his responsibilities includes the programming, operations, brand and franchise management, as well as the content direction for the three brands.

Leslie has more than two decades’ experience and expertise in the entertainment industry across numerous Asian markets. This includes 19 years on Kids brands working on both linear TV and digital aspects of the business.

Leslie added: “I’m a huge fan of pop culture and animation, and I’ve now got the opportunity to work with some of the very best brands and most iconic franchises ever created. It’s a fantastic opportunity and it’s a privilege to be a part of a great team.”

Boomerang UK New Show Mighty Mike Premieres 1st May

On Wednesday 1st May, Boomerang UK will be premiering a brand new show – Mighty Mike, with new episodes airing on weekdays at 5.30pm. The show was previously known as “Take It Easy Mike” and “Mighty Mike and the Wild Bunch” during its development. The new show features hyper-realistic 3D CGI visuals and non-dialogue humour, a total of 78 episodes, each with a runtime of seven minutes have been produced.

The new show follows the life of a pug named Mike, a dog with sophisticated tastes filled with limitless energy, he wants to seduce his crush, Cindy – the neighbour’s dog, but unluckily, a bunch of trouble-makers always ruin his plans, whether its the raccoons – Freddy and Mercury (named after the famous singer from the band – Queen), a cute kitten named Fluffy or three turtles (named after the three musketeers – Athos, Portos and Aramis) that always appear at the worst possible moment.

Mighty Mike is produced by French animation studio – TeamTO, known for animating Cartoon Network’s Angelo Rules and Boomerang’s My Knight and Me and is also produced by Canadian animation studio – Digital Dimension. CAKE handles the worldwide distribution for Take It Easy Mike excluding France, Germany and China. In addition to Boomerang UK, the brand new show will premiere on Boomerang feeds around the world and also on Cartoon Network, Boing and Pogo in some countries.
