Turner Partners With Arqiva For VOD Services For Europe: More Cartoons When You Want It

Today (08/09/2015), Turner have signed a partnership with Arqiva to provide Video on Demand (VoD) processing, delivery and streaming services for 32 of its platforms around Europe. Arqiva will begin processing Turner’s programming for VoD purposes at the end of September. Arqiva’s technology solution will process Turner’s 24 channels across Europe including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TCM and Boing, this will allow more content to be available on-demand and for more flexibility and choice for the viewer.

Arqiva already playout and uplink Turner’s London broadcast cluster of channels which includes their British, Scandinavian, French, Portuguese, African, Benelux, and Eastern European feeds and have done so since a deal was made in December 2013 moving from an in-house operation.

Rick Cole, SVP, International IT and Network Operations at Turner Broadcasting made this statement about the VoD technology:

“We are committed to giving our audience the freedom to watch our content whenever and wherever they want to, and the Arqiva Video on Demand service will help us to achieve this. Arqiva is a proven and valued managed service provider and, as our partnership continues to evolve, I look forward to being able to deliver more innovative solutions to delight our audience base.”

David Crawford, Managing Director Satellite and Media at Arqiva made this statement about the deal with Turner:

“Arqiva strives to deliver a scalable broadcast quality managed service across the value chain. We are moving closer to making the ‘create once, publish anywhere’ aspiration a reality for our customers across both traditional and OTT services. Our relationship with Turner Broadcasting is proof of this and we look forward to continuing to work together to provide cost-effective, outsourced solutions to help support the growth of their business.”

Turner USA already made a similar VoD deal with Vubiquity for live to VoD processing back in July.
