Pablo Zuccarino Announced As Senior VP And General Manager Of Cartoon Network Latin America

Turner Latin America has appointed Pablo Zuccarino as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cartoon Network Latin America, which also includes Boomerang and classic animation TV channel Tooncast. In his new role, Pablo will oversee all programming, digital strategy, marketing and day-to-day business for all three channels. Pablo was first hired in 2004 as part of Cartoon Network Latin America’s digital team, then content and finally channel management. Pablo will report to Turner Latin America’s president – Whit Richardson. The previous CN Latin America manager was Barry Koch who left the company last March.

Regarding Pablo Zuccarino’s appointment – Whit Richardson said:

“Pablo has been a game-changer in the kids’ space since he first joined Turner in 2004. His long-standing ‘fan-first’ approach to our kids’ offerings has played a key role in our ongoing success.”

Also to mention, Cartoon Network Latin America and Brazil will celebrate its 25th anniversary on 30th April this year, for this year’s Carnaval festivities and to celebrate the channel’s birthday, Cartoon Network Brazil has posted a special video onto their YouTube channel featuring many of Cartoon Network’s most recognisable cartoon characters doing the samba:

This week (23/01/2018 to 25/01/2018) was the 2018 Toy Fair at the Olympia exhibition centre in London, UK. The annually-held convention is an opportunity for toy manufacturers to promote and demonstrate their latest toys to attract potential retailers and customers. This year, Cartoon Network’s owners – Turner was a sponsor of the event and sponsored a cafe in the exhibition centre during the convention. The master toy licensee for Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls – Spin Master and distributor for Ben 10 toys for the UK market (on behalf of Playmates Toys) – Flair were also present at the event.

The day before the opening of this year’s Toy Fair, Cartoon Network Enterprises, the product and service licensing division of Cartoon Network already announced a second wave of toys for the newly rebooted Ben 10 animated series. New toys will include Heatblast Rocket Flyer, Diamondhead Power Tank vehicles, Omni-Enhanced figurines and also Omni-Launch battle figurines.

2018 also marks the 20th anniversary of Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls as a full animated series, alongside new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls this year and the return of the fourth Powerpuff Girl – Bliss, Cartoon Network will continue to license the brand out to clothing and toy manufacturers, retailers and confectioners.

At the Toy Fair, Funko (the manufacturer that makes Funko Pops, which are simplified vinyl figurines of characters from pop-culture), has announced that they’re releasing a Dorbz figure range featuring characters from Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.

In other licensing news, Cartoon Network Enterprises and McDonald’s UK have partnered up to offer The Amazing World of Gumball toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals, the promotion is expected to start after the current Pokémon promotion has ended.

This year, Cartoon Network will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Powerpuff Girls, the full series premiered on Cartoon Network in the United States on 18th November 1998, the show eventually became one of Cartoon Network’s most iconic animated series appealing to both girls and boys all over the world. The animated series followed the daily-lives of three unlikely superheroes, three kindergarten-aged (school-aged in the 2016 reboot) girls named Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, it’s their duty to save Townsville and the world from destruction before bedtime while still trying to live a normal childhood. The 20th anniversary celebrations will begin next month with the global rollout of new episodes, events and products that will continue into 2019. As seen in the Cartoon Network USA 2018 preview video, Bliss will also be returning to the show this year.

The original series was created by Craig McCracken who later created another Cartoon Network hit Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, for the rebooted series which launched in 2016, Nick Jennings and Bob Boyle serve as executive producers.

In 2017, The Powerpuff Girls won a “Best National Family Series” Gracie Award. The Gracie Awards recognises high-quality programming created by women, for women and about women in media and entertainment.
