Today (3rd December), ASIFA-Hollywood has released their nominations list for the 46th annual Annie Awards which will be held on Saturday 2nd February 2019, at Royce Hall at UCLA in Los Angeles. The Annie Awards is an annual awards ceremony to honor exceptional animated productions and also honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the art of animation, an Annie Award is a highly regarded accolade for excellence in the field of animation.

Cartoon Network Studios’ sci-fi animated show – Ben 10 has received a nomination in the “Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production” category, specifically for the storyboarding work by Will Patrick. In the “Outstanding Achievement for Writing in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production”, Cartoon Network Studios has received two nominations, one for Craig of the Creek and the other for We Bare Bears. For the Craig of the Creek nomination, Matt Burnett (show creator), Ben Levin (show creator), Shauna McGarry, Jeff Trammell and Tiffany Ford have been specifically listed for their scriptwriting on the show. For We Bare Bears, Mikey Heller, Sang Yup Lee and Louie Zong have been listed as writers for the nomination.

Warner Bros. Animation’s animated movie, in association with Cartoon Network – Teen Titans Go! To The Movies has also received a nomination in the “Outstanding Achievement for Writing in an Animated Feature Production” category, the nomination has been given to the show’s concept developers – Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath. Warner Bros. Animation’s Unikitty!, produced for Cartoon Network has received an nomination in the “Outstanding Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production” category for Unikitty’s voice actress – Tara Strong. The Tom and Jerry Show has received a nomination in the “Outstanding Achievement for Music in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production” for music by Vivek Maddala. Warner Animation Group’s motion picture – Smallfoot has received a nomination for “Outstanding Achievement for Music in an Animated Feature Production” credited to Heitor Pereira, Karey Kirkpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick.

Cartoon Network’s young adult nightly programming block – Adult Swim has received one nomination in the “Best General Audience Animated Television/Broadcast Production” category for an animated comedy-drama series that returned to the programming block this August – The Venture Bros.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) released their nominations list for the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards this morning (12/07/2018) at their headquarters in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. This year, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim have completely dominated the “Outstanding Short Form Animated Program” category with nominations for Cartoon Network Studios’ Adventure Time, Steven Universe and We Bare Bears, Warner Bros. Animation’s Teen Titans Go! (produced for Cartoon Network) and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios’ Robot Chicken (produced for Adult Swim).

Adventure Time has been nominated specifically for the episode “Ring of Fire”, Steven Universe has been nominated for the episode “Jungle Moon” and We Bare Bears has been nominated for the episode “Hurricane Hal”. Teen Titans Go! has been nominated for the “The Self-Indulgent 200th Episode Spectacular! special episode (Parts 1 and 2)” and finally Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken has been nominated for the “Freshly Baked: The Robot Chicken Santa Claus Pot Cookie Freakout” Christmas special.

Best of luck to the cast and production crews for Adventure Time, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go! and Robot Chicken, and also to creators and show developers – Pendleton Ward, Adam Muto, Rebecca Sugar, Daniel Chong, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Seth Green and Matthew Senreich.

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty has been nominated in the “Outstanding Animated Program Category”, specifically for the episode – “Pickle Rick”, best wishes to the cast, production crew and to show creators – Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. In the same category, Rick and Morty will compete against Disney XD’s Big Hero 6: The Series, FOX’s Bob’s Burgers, FOX’s The Simpsons and Comedy Central’s South Park. Rick and Morty has also been nominated in the “Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media Within A Scripted
Program” category for the virtual reality game – “Virtual Rick-ality” by Owlchemy Labs and Adult Swim Games.

This year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday 8th September and Sunday 9th September and will air on Saturday 15th September at 8pm on FXX in the United States.

During the Wondercon Comic-Con convention in Anaheim, California this weekend (Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th March), there were Warner Bros. Animation show panel events for Unikitty!, Teen Titans Go! and for the upcoming animated series coming soon to Cartoon Network – DC Super Hero Girls.

The first panel was for Unikitty!. Show producers, Ed Skudder and Lynn Wang; art director Andrea Fernandez; animation director Anna Hollingsworth and voice actors Roger Craig Smith (Hawkodile) and Eric Bauza (Master Frown) were all present at the panel. A new episode sneak peek was shown at the panel and there was an opportunity for fans of the show to ask questions. There was an opportunity for fans to get an autograph too.

Next up was the panel for one of Cartoon Network USA’s most popular shows – Teen Titans Go!, the show’s producers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and the voice of Beast Boy – Greg Cipes were at the panel, in front of a packed audience. Also yesterday, Warner Bros. Pictures released the shortened television advert version of the Teen Titans Go! To The Movies trailer, the advert includes some never-before-seen footage featuring the superhero – Green Lantern voiced by rapper – Lil Yachty.

Finally, there was the panel for the new series – DC Super Hero Girls. Attending the panel were: Anais Fairweather (voice of Super Girl), Yancey Labat (DC Super Hero Girls graphic novels illustrator), Monica Kubina (DC Super Hero Girls graphic novels colorist) and Shea Fontana (DC Super Hero Girls writer). A brand new animated series based on the DC franchise is being developed by Lauren Faust (The Powerpuff Girls (original series), Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic) and it will premiere on Cartoon Network USA this year, a special episode based on the franchise – DC Super Hero Girls: Super Hero High has already aired on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and on Boomerang in the UK, also there’s an animated short web series which is now in its fourth season, all web episodes can be viewed for free on the DC Super Hero Girls YouTube channel.
