Cartoon Network Screening At SXSW 2017

Cartoon Network USA will be hosting a special screening during the SXSW 2017 (South by Southwest) media event in Austin, Texas on Monday 13th March at 8pm at the Long Center for Performing Arts. The screening will feature never before seen episodes of The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Ben 10 and Teen Titans Go! and apparently there’s a big surprise too. No SXSW badge will be required for access to the screening.

SXSW is a major annual media event and is an amalgamation of film, interactive media and music festivals. At last year’s SXSW event, Cartoon Network USA hosted the world premiere of The Powerpuff Girls 2016 reboot as well as a pre-premiere party. Last year, Cartoon Network also hosted a creativity panel with Ian Jones-Quartey (creator of OK K.O.!: Let’s Be Heroes and former supervising director for Steven Universe), Julia Pott (Creator of Summer Camp Island), Kyle Carrozza (Creator of Mighty Magiswords), Pete Browngardt (Creator of Uncle Grandpa and Secret Mountain Fort Awesome) and Rob Sorcher (Chief Content Officer at Cartoon Network). Cartoon Network also hosted a joint panel with Lego about their on-going content collaboration with shows such as Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu and Nexo Knights.

Welcome To My Life Cartoon Network Studios Short Accepted Into New York International Children’s Film Festival

Cartoon Network Studios’ short – Welcome To My Life has been accepted into this year’s NYICFF (New York International Children’s Film Festival) short films list. The film festival will take place between Friday 24th February and Sunday 19th March.

Welcome to My Life follows the life of a young American monster named Douglas. However, it’s not easy for a monster to live alongside humans; even though to his classmates he appears to be a monster but really he’s human in the inside. The short is formatted as a “mockumentary” and is an insight of someone’s life who struggles with their differences.

Welcome To My Life was developed as part of Cartoon Network Studios’ animated shorts programme in 2015, and is showcased as an example of an animated short in the Shorts Department section of the Cartoon Network Studios’ website. The animated short has been shown at various animation film festivals around the world, including the 2016 Austin Film Festival and Animafest in Zagreb, Croatia.

The animated short was created by Elizabeth Ito, she also works as a supervising director on Cartoon Network Studios’/Frederator Studios’ Adventure Time and has storyboarded five Adventure Time episodes, including the very first episode – Slumber Party Panic.

New York International Children’s Film Festival is the largest film festival for children and teens in North America, the film festival runs for four weeks and shows film submissions from the United States and around the world, it is also an Academy Awards tier event. Audience members of all ages can vote on the Festival-winning films and the winners are put forward for consideration at the annual Academy Awards.
