Steven Universe Panel At New York Comic Con 2017

Today (05/10/2017) on the opening day of New York Comic Con 2017 (05/10/2017 – 08/10/2017), there was a panel for Cartoon Network’s cult animated show – Steven Universe, the special event took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. The special event was filled with musical moments, sneak peeks and an opportunity for fans to ask the panel questions. The show’s creator – Rebecca Sugar was there, along with mystery guests Zach Callison (Voice of Steven Universe), Michaela Dietz (Voice of Amethyst), Deedee Magno Hall (Voice of Pearl), Grace Rolek (voice of Connie) and Tom Scharpling (voice of Greg Universe). The panel was moderated by journalist – Eric Thurm.

During the panel many songs from the show were performed in front of fans including “Don’t Cost Nothing” from the 2017 Creative Arts Emmy nominated episode – Mr. Greg, “It’s Over” also from the same episode and a brand new song “Escapism” performed by Rebecca Sugar. Also during the panel, a sneak peek of an upcoming episode – “Dewey Wins” was shown.

People who asked questions were given a “I am Made Of Love” T-shirt, a reference to a lyric from the song – “Stronger Than You”, also referring to Ruby and Sapphire – the two fused gems that formed together to form Garnet.

New York Comic Con 2017 Cartoon Network Events Schedule

Cartoon Network will be at New York Comic Con 2017 on Thursday 5th October to Sunday 8th October and will be held at the Javits Center. New York Comic Con is the largest annual pop-culture convention on East Coast of the United States. At the convention this year, there will be four different Cartoon Network events, including a costume party and competition. On Thursday 5th September, Steven Universe show creator – Rebecca Sugar will be speaking at a Steven Universe panel alongside with some unannounced voice actors from the show, there will be singing too and some exclusive info about the gem’s Homeworld. Later on Thursday is a “Creating a Career in Animation” panel with Rebecca Sugar (Creator of Steven Universe), Mike Roth (creative director, writer, supervising producer, and storyboard artist for Regular Show). Also attending the “Creating a Career in Animation” panel is Phil Rynda (VP, Artist Development at Nickelodeon) and Angie Wojak, the Career Development Director at the New York School of Visual Arts will be moderating the panel.

On Saturday 7th October, there will be a combined OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, Ben 10 and Teen Titans Go! panel called “Cartoon Network Presents: Let’s Be Heroes!”, attending the panel will be Ian Jones-Quartey (Creator of OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes! and voice of Rad), Ashly Burch (voice of Enid from OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes), John Fang (Executive Producer of Ben 10), Greg Cipes (voice of Stinkfly from Ben 10 and Beast Boy from Teen Titans Go!), Peter Michail (Director of Teen Titans Go!) and Tara Strong (voice of Raven from Teen Titans Go! and Ben Tennyson from Ben 10).

Finally on Sunday 8th October is the Cartoon Network Costume Party, a special event filled with prizes, games and sneak peeks for some upcoming episodes. The first 500 kids in costume will receive a prize. Greg Cipes, Ashly Burch, Tara Strong and Eric Bauza will be at the event as guest judges and will pick the winners wearing the best costumes.

Join some of the industry’s best-known creatives as they discuss navigating the business. Rebecca Sugar (Creator, Steven Universe), Mike Roth (Co-executive producer, Cartoon Network), and Phil Rynda (VP, Artist Development, Nickelodeon) will speak. As each panelist is an SVA alumnus, they will address studying in New York City and then moving to LA. Moderator: Angie Wojak, SVA Career Development Director.

Adventure Time Wins 2017 Creative Arts Emmy For Outstanding Short Form Animated Program

Yesterday (09/09/2017), the winners of the 2017 Creative Arts Emmy Awards were announced in Los Angeles and Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time has won another Creative Arts Emmy in the “Outstanding Short Form Animated Program” category bringing the tally to seven Emmys throughout show’s run since its premiere in 2010. Adventure Time won the Emmy for the episode “Imaginary Resources”, which is the fourth episode in the Adventure Time: Islands mini-series. In the episode, Finn and Jake visit a strange island while on their voyage across the ocean; the island’s inhabitants live in a virtual world. The episode was directed by Elizabeth Ito and written by show creator Pendleton Ward, Kent Osborne, Jack Pendarvis, Ashly Burch and Adam Muto. In the same category, Teen Titans Go!’s – “Orangins” episode and the Steven Universe episode – “Mr. Greg” were also nominated.

Also, Adult Swim’s and Cartoon Network Studios’ Samurai Jack has won an amazing total of four Emmy awards in the “Outstanding Individual Achievement In Animation” category, one for the episode (XCII) (“92”), two for the episode “XCIII” (“93”) and one for “XCV” (“95”).
