After finishing up their senior year of high school, the Scooby-Doo-gang decide to travel in the Mystery Machine, seeking fun and adventure during what could possibly be their last summer break together. Scooby-Doo To Return To The Big Screen In 2018: But This Time It’s Animated

Yesterday (17/08/2015), it was announced that Scooby-Doo is returning to cinemas for a brand new animated feature length film. Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and originally produced by their company Hanna-Barbera productions, Scooby-Doo remains to this day, one of the most popular classic cartoon series and has regular daily airings on Boomerang feeds worldwide. The movie will be produced Charles Roven and Richard Suckle who also produced both live-action theatrical Scooby-Doo films. Allison Abbate, producer of Warner Bros.’ The Iron Giant has joined as a producer for the new movie. The movie will be directed by Emmy Award nominee Tony Cervone, director of Space Jam. Family Guy animator and Phineas and Ferb show co-creator, Dan Povenmire will also be involved as executive producer, with the screenplay written by Matt Lieberman.

There’s currently no news of a plot for the movie, but without a doubt, the storyline will follow the typical rules of a Scooby-Doo episode, Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of Mystery Inc. try to solve a mystery behind supernatural happenings and try to investigate who’s the person behind it all, with jokes and laughs thrown in to the lighten the mood.

Warner Bros. president of worldwide marketing and distribution Sue Kroll made this statement regarding the new Scooby-Doo movie:

“It’s wonderful to be working with this talented and inspired team of filmmakers. We couldn’t ask for better producers than Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Allison Abbate, who have such affection and respect for this property and know the Hanna-Barbera universe so well.”

The movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas in the USA on Friday 21st September 2018 and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (The owner of Hanna-Barbera animated properties). A new animated series called Be Cool Scooby-Doo will also be coming to Boomerang USA later this year.
