Wednesday 19th October on Cartoon Network Japan is Jake Day, the channel will be airing an eleven hour marathon of Adventure Time episodes from 7am to 6pm featuring Jake The Dog. Cartoon Network Japan’s Cartoon Express Sunday morning block (airs every Sunday from 10am) will feature new episodes of We Bare Bears, Ben 10, Unikitty!, The Tom and Jerry Show, Uncle Grandpa and Grizzy and the Lemmings.

On Sunday 7th October between 1pm and 9pm, Cartoon Network Japan will be airing a Girls and Bears marathon, featuring episodes of The Powerpuff Girls and We Bare Bears, the marathon is known as “Pair Up” in other countries. Wednesday 10th October is Ben 10 day and Cartoon Network Japan will be airing an ten hour marathon between 10am and 8pm, as well as the Omni-Tricked special. On Monday 8th October, there will be an The Amazing World of Gumball marathon between 7am and 12pm which is also repeated between 4pm and 9pm, episodes that will air include “The Puppets” and “The Lady”.

On Wednesday 31st October, Cartoon Network Japan will be celebrating Halloween with Halloween episodes of Uncle Grandpa, Clarence, The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans Go and The Amazing World of Gumball, the Halloween programming event will air from 5pm and 6.30pm.

This month, Cartoon Network Japan will be airing three Zorzori: The Naughty Hero movies:

Zorzori: The Naughty Hero: Quest for the Mystery Treasure (Sunday 14th October at 7am and 3pm)
Zorzori: The Naughty Hero: Super Adventure! (Sunday 21st October at 7am and 3pm)
Zorzori: The Naughty Hero: Defend The Dinosaur Egg! (Sunday 28th October at 7am and 3pm)

Japanese mobile phone network operator – NTT DoCoMo has announced that they will be launching their brand new OTT (over-the-top) internet streaming television service – dTV Channel on Tuesday (30th January), Boomerang Japan will also be launching with the new service. For the first time in Japan, Boomerang, a sister channel to Cartoon Network, will be available as a separate television channel offering a mixture of classic and contemporary animation from Warner Bros. Animation as well as new shows from independent studios.

Boomerang Japan will air the following shows: The Looney Tunes Show, New Looney Tunes (formerly Wabbit!/Bugs!), Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo, Chowder, The Jetsons, Wacky Races, Young Justice, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Turner will also be launching two other channels on the dTV platform – MONDO Mahjong TV and TABI Tele.

Other kids and anime channels that will be available on the service include Nickelodeon (relaunching in Japan), Animax and Disney Junior, in total, the service will offer 30 channels which includes Japanese originated channels and VOD services such as TBS On Demand, three channels from South Korea and also Japanese versions of famous international television brands including National Geographic, MTV Mix and History.

Ahead of the launch of Boomerang Japan in January, Cartoon Network Japan has uploaded a preview page with some information (in Japanese) of what’s coming soon to the channel. Boomerang is set to launch in Japan in January 2018, according to the placeholder page, the channel will air the following shows: The Looney Tunes Show, New Looney Tunes (formerly Wabbit!/Bugs!), Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo, Dreamworks Dragons: Defenders of Berk, The Jetsons, Wacky Races, Young Justice, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines.
