On 1st July, Boomerang France HD launched on CanalSat. There was a deadline on the CanalSat TV platform for all channels to be in High Definition or at least to be upscaled to HD in the MPEG-4 (Motion Picture Experts Group Version 4) and DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcasting Satellite 2nd Generation) video format by 1st July and because of this deadline, Boomerang France HD had to launch. Boomerang UK HD also launched on 24th June.
Update: The channel is currently upscaled to HD.

Today (29/06/2015) according to Worldscreen TV Kids, it was announced that Turner Broadcasting System and Warner Bros Animation have signed a multi-series deal. New Warner Bros productions such as Bunnicula, Wabbit – A Looney Tunes Production and Be Cool Scooby-Doo! will premiere on Boomerang feeds worldwide this Autumn.
For these new productions, there is also the potential to air these new productions on Boomerang’s sister channels worldwide such as Pogo India, Boing (Spain, France, Italy and Africa), Toonami (India, Thailand and Asia) and Cartoon Network in the U.S. Already through Turner’s semi-autonomous control under the TimeWarner corporate umbrella, Boomerang now has access to over 3,500 titles from Hanna-Barbera, MGM and Warner Bros. Animation.
Christina Miller, the president and general manager of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang made this statement about the new deal with Warner Bros Animation:
“Turner Broadcasting has a very strong kids and family business around the world and our exciting new partnership with Warner Bros. presents a number of new opportunities that will help strategically grow the Boomerang brand. Through this expanded relationship with our corporate partners, we will create new content that will engage fans across a variety of screens and platforms and further grow these timeless franchises that we’ll leverage not only across Boomerang but also our global kids and family portfolio of businesses.”
Sam Register, the president of Warner Bros Animation and Warner Digital Series also made this statement with the deal with Turner:
“With the television landscape becoming more and more crowded, we are extremely fortunate to have one of the largest animation libraries, with some of the world’s most iconic and revered characters, and to be embarking on this important new partnership with Turner and Boomerang. This deal presents an exciting creative opportunity to explore this vast collection, to develop new and compelling programming based on these beloved characters, and to introduce them to new generations of families.”
Turner Acquires Broadcasting Rights For Grizzy And The Lemmings For Boomerang Worldwide
Turner Broadcasting System has agreed a broadcasting deal with French production company, Studio Hari to air their new animated show called Grizzy and The Lemmings. It was revealed last week that France Télévisions who commissioned the series was negotiating with Turner at the Annecy Animation Festival last week. Boomerang channels throughout the world will get the new show as part of a pre-sales deal, this also includes Boomerang USA. Grizzy and The Lemmings is a CGI comedy and will have an initial 78 episodes that are 7 minutes long each. Studio Hari, the Paris and Angouleme-based animation studio that has created the show is behind such animated properties as The Owl and Co, Leon and The Gees.
The new series is about the adventures of Grizzy, a big dumb bear living in the Canadian countryside living alongside some Lemmings that are even more stupid. The full series will be ready by the end of next year.
