Boomerang Southeast Asia Launches In Malaysia On HyppTV: More Animation For Malaysia

Boomerang, the classic cartoon sister channel of Cartoon Network has launched in Malaysia on the HyppTV IPTV platform, with a free two month preview for all HyppTV customers that started from its launch date on Saturday 1st August. Boomerang is a channel full of animation with household names and contemporary cartoons for kids and families. The channel offers both exclusive and first-run content including remakes and new episodes of timeless favourites from Cartoon Network’s and Warner Bros’. properties such as Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo. Boomerang also airs both modern and classic acquisitions including Garfield, Pink Panther, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Mr. Bean, Inspector Gadget, DreamWorks’ Turbo FAST and DreamWorks’ two Dragons series: Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk and Dreamworks Dragons: Defenders of Berk. The version of Boomerang received in Malaysia is Boomerang Southeast Asia, which relaunched on 1st January 2015.

The channel is available in two languages: English and Bahasa Malaysia, with a demographic of kids aged 4-9 as well as their families and anyone who loves animation most particularly classic cartoons. Boomerang will be very soon airing new productions from Warner Bros. Animation such as the new Bugs Bunny series, Wabbit: A Looney Tunes Production and Bunnicula, a story of a vegetarian vampire rabbit based on the children’s book series written by James Howe.

Boomerang Southeast Asia is part of HyppTV’s Jumbo Pack and will also be available á-la-carte. A Boomerang app for mobile devices with both video and game content is currently in the planning stages.

Boomerang and Warner Bros Animation Sign Multi-Series Deal

Today (29/06/2015) according to Worldscreen TV Kids, it was announced that Turner Broadcasting System and Warner Bros Animation have signed a multi-series deal. New Warner Bros productions such as Bunnicula, Wabbit – A Looney Tunes Production and Be Cool Scooby-Doo! will premiere on Boomerang feeds worldwide this Autumn.

For these new productions, there is also the potential to air these new productions on Boomerang’s sister channels worldwide such as Pogo India, Boing (Spain, France, Italy and Africa), Toonami (India, Thailand and Asia) and Cartoon Network in the U.S. Already through Turner’s semi-autonomous control under the TimeWarner corporate umbrella, Boomerang now has access to over 3,500 titles from Hanna-Barbera, MGM and Warner Bros. Animation.

Christina Miller, the president and general manager of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang made this statement about the new deal with Warner Bros Animation:

Sam Register, the president of Warner Bros Animation and Warner Digital Series also made this statement with the deal with Turner:
