Cartoon Network India has announced that they will premiere the Cartoon Network original series – OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes on Friday 28th September at 12pm. The new animated series follows a young and ambitious young boy named K.O. who dreams to become the world’s greatest hero, the series takes place in a video-game influenced world inhabited by heroes and villains. During this weekend (Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September), the new show will air in a binge three-hour marathon format from 12pm. OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes already airs on Cartoon Network India’s alternative U.S. content focused HD channel – Cartoon Network HD+.

In a statement, the Executive Director and Network Head of Cartoon Network India – Krishna Desai said – “It is our constant endeavour to build a relatable world for kids with interesting stories and fun characters. Considering the advent of the festive season, it is the perfect time to launch a Cartoon Network international show in India and engage with the kids. We are certain that the show and the character will instantly grab the attention of kids and win a million hearts right from the start!”

Ahead of the premiere this Friday, the Cartoon Network India website already has OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes games, videos and quizzes.

Cartoon Network India Launches School Contact Programme For 2018

Turner India, the owner and operator of Cartoon Network and its sister channel – Pogo in India has launched its 13th annual School Contact Programme (SCP). Cartoon Network’s and Pogo’s SCP is one of India’s largest school outreach programmes. One million kids from around 1,100 schools will get to enjoy fun-filled activities with Cartoon Network’s SCP theme – “Masti ki Recess” and POGO’s theme – “Fun Bhi Fit Bhi”. The SCP will be held in schools located in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Surat. Both SCP themes will include interactive games, trivia, competitions and prizes.

With Cartoon Network’s ‘Masti ki Recess’ theme, schools will have an extra break filled with fun and interactive games with Cartoon Network’s characters and shows including Ben 10, Kris from Roll No.21, Oggy from Oggy and Cockroaches and We Bare Bears.

Pogo is having a health and fitness theme this year with “Fun Bhi Fit Bhi” featuring Pogo’s popular characters and shows including Chhota Bheem, Tik Tak Tail and Grizzy and the Lemmings and for the first time, kids will get to interact with their favourite cartoons in an audio-visual led activity.

While talking about this year’s School Contact Programme, Krishna Desai, executive director and network head-kids at Turner India said:

Turner India has announced that Cartoon Network India’s sister channel – Toonami will cease broadcasting on Tuesday 15th May. At launch, the channel mostly focused on action animation with shows such as Batman, Superman, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Justice League, Inazuma Eleven Go and Dragon Ball Z, but in 2017, the channel was re-purposed as an classic animation channel, mostly airing shows from Cartoon Network’s and Hanna-Barbera’s library, however, the channel still airs the action-anime series Dragon Ball Super.

Turner India just soft-launched launched a new version of Cartoon Network called Cartoon Network HD+ last Sunday (15th April) which is being rolled out on other operators, it’s likely that the new channel will be Toonami India’s eventual replacement. The other Toonami channel in the Asia-Pacific region – Toonami Asia just recently closed at the end of March.
