Turner Italy’s 2018 Successful Viewing Ratings Results

Turner Italy has ended year 2018 with successful results for its kids channels.

In the Italian market, Turner has four children’s channels, two that are free-to-air on digital terrestrial and co-owned by RTI Mediaset – Boing and Cartoonito and two are pay-TV channels fully owned by Turner and available on the Sky Italia satellite service – Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

Boing is the market leader in Italy and had a 11.6% share in the 4-14 age demographic during 2018.

In 2018, Cartoonito was first among commercial childrens’ channels that target the 4-7 year demographic with a share of over 9%.

Cartoon Network maintained its leadership status among kids pay-TV channels with a 0.90% viewing share.

In August 2018, Turner Italy launched an mobile app for Boing. The app now available to download for Android and iOS devices saw 1.7 million downloads in the first four months after launch. The Boing app features full episodes, a livestream of the Boing channel, games and other exclusive content.

A Few Cartoon Network EMEA Feeds Acquire Broadcasting Rights To Birdo Studio’s Oswaldo

A bunch of localised versions of Cartoon Network in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) area have acquired the broadcasting rights to Birdo Studio’s Oswaldo, an animated comedy series that originally debuted on Cartoon Network Brazil. Oswaldo will premiere on Cartoon Network Italy, Cartoon Network Turkey, Cartoon Network MENA or Cartoon Network Arabic (or even both) in the Middle East, Cartoon Network Africa and also in Israel. In Southeast Asia, Disney Channel acquired the broadcasting rights to the show.

The deals were brokered by president and owner of Kid Glove – Brenda Wooding. UK-based Jetpack Distibution also handle the show’s distribution rights along with Kid Glove. For the show’s second season, Oswaldo is co-produced by India’s Symbiosys Entertainment. Thirteen episodes of Oswaldo are already available to air, production is already underway for an additional 39 episodes.

Oswaldo, the show’s titular character, is a 12 year old penguin who lives as a human boy, he was discovered by his adoptive parents on a beach in Rio de Janeiro when he was a baby, thousands of miles away from his real home in Antarctica. When Oswaldo started going to school, Oswaldo quickly learns more about the outside world and has lots of fun with his new friends in the boiling heat of Rio.

Cartoon Network Italy At Lucca Comics And Games Festival 2018

Cartoon Network Italy will be at the Lucca Comics & Games Festival for a third consecutive year. The Lucca Comics And Games Festival is the largest comic book festival in Europe and the second largest in the world, which will take place in Lucca from Wednesday 31st October to Sunday 4th November.

On Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd November, in the San Paolino Bastion there will be a special screening featuring episodes of Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Ben 10 from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, including the Adventure Time finale – Come Along With Me (Airs Friday 16th November at 8.20pm on Cartoon Network Italy), followed by the Steven Universe episode – “A Single Pale Rose” (Airs Monday 19th November at 7.55pm), which reveals the true story of Rose Quartz. Also at the screening the finale of Ben 10 season two – Innervasion will be shown. Plus, Adult Swim will also get some screentime too with two episodes of Rick and Morty being shown at the festival. Cartoonist Youtubers – Fraffrog and RichardHTT will also be at the festival.

Also on Saturday 3rd November at 11am is the Cartoon Network Parade, the characters of Cartoon Network – Finn and Jake from Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Gumball and Darwin from The Amazing World of Gumball and Ben 10 will be walking down the streets of Lucca, starting from the Baluardo di San Fredianofino and ending at the Baluardo di Santa Croce. The music group Raggi Fotonici, known for their songs featuring in cartoons will be leading the parade with music composed by Mirko Fabbreschi, Laura Salamone and Dario Sgrò.
