More Ben 10 Merchandise Coming Soon To Europe In 2017 And 2018

With the success of the recently rebooted Ben 10 television series in many markets in Europe and ahead of the Brand Licensing Europe 2017 convention in London next week (10th – 12th October), Cartoon Network Enterprises EMEA has announced their new lineup of companies that have permission to use its Ben 10 intellectual property for various and different uses, including merchandising and services. The new licensing deals builds upon the existing toy deal with Playmates Toys, which hold the master global toy rights, with Giochi Preziosi distributing the toy range in Europe, with subsidiary – Flair presiding over the UK toy distribution rights. The existing toy range includes a series of figurines, role-play items and play sets. The extra new products will include everything from clothing to homeware and will be available in stores from Autumn/Winter 2017.

In terms of Ben 10 clothing and accessories, the following companies hold a license: Smith & Brooks (daywear), Fashion UK (daywear), Cooneen Group (nightwear and underwear), Drew Pearson International (accessories) and Roy Lowe and Sons (socks).

Centum Books hold the master publishing rights, with Italian publisher – Panini having the license to publish a Ben 10 Magazine. Dreamtex will provide Ben 10 themed bedding and Zak will launch a range of lunchware and drinkware.

In Spain and Portugal, Ben 10 licensees include Air Val Iberia (personal care), and Kid Licensing Iberia (watches and lights). Meanwhile in Poland, Uroda (bedding) and Smyk (apparel, footwear and accessories) will be providing Ben 10 merchandise. For the Turkish market, Zorluteks Tekstil Ticaret Ve Sanayi A.S. will introduce a range of Ben 10 themed homeware. In Italy, Ben 10 licensees include Commerciale Campana Srl (footwear) and Original Marines (apparel and accessories). Sun City Sasu is producing a range of kidswear and fashion accessories for Italy, Spain and Portugal.

In Scandinavia, Skybrands will be providing Ben 10 bedding and kidswear, and will also launch the bedding range in Germany. In terms of pan-European deals, IMC will be offering Ben 10 walkie talkies and board games, Mondo will be providing Ben 10 inflatables and chocolate maker – Ferrero will be manufacturing Kinder Surprise Eggs with Ben 10 toys. Also in November, Outright Games will launch their new Ben 10 game in Europe, Middle East and Africa and in the United States.

Cartoon Network Nordic (broadcasts to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) has partnered with the local division of its sister company – HBO (Home Box Office) Nordic to launch a brand new OTT (Over The Top) video-on-demand service for children called Toonix. The brand new streaming service launched yesterday (03/10/2017). The new VOD service feature a mix of animated television shows and movies, especially content from Cartoon Network Studios and Warner Bros. Animation aimed for kids aged between 3 and 12 years old.

The new service has more than 2000 episodes of Cartoon Network’s and Boomerang’s most popular shows and is available for no additional cost to existing HBO Nordic subscribers. All shows are fully localised, with shows available in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish. Toonix also offers a 100% ad-free no interruption service.

Popular animated shows available on Toonix include: The Amazing World of Gumball, Lego Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitzu, Looney Tunes, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Ben 10, Teen Titans Go!, Scooby-Doo! and Tom and Jerry. Pre-school classics on the service include Shaun the Sheep, Alfie Atkins and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Scandinavian originated series like Pippi Longstocking, Bamse, Rasmus Klump and The Moomins.

In addition to its usual offering of animation, Toonix will include live-action shows such as Dance Academy, also there’s a movie section which includes movies such as Arthur and the Minimoys and Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.

Toonix is also name of Cartoon Network’s avatar character maker as seen on several Cartoon Network websites all over the world, where kids can create a cute version of themselves or recreate a popular cartoon character. Many of these Toonix characters can been seen on the brand new streaming service. Cartoon Network Latin America also had a branding era called “Toonix” which features many of Cartoon Network’s characters in Toonix form, this was also Cartoon Network Latin America’s version of Cartoon Network USA’s Noods era.

HBO, also part of Time Warner (soon to be AT&T) family is known for its critically acclaimed programming including current hits such as Game of Thrones and Westworld and even pre-school programming such as the long-running Sesame Street. In the UK, Sky owns the pay-TV rights to many of HBO’s shows and airs them on its exclusive Sky Atlantic channel.

Cartoon Network Studios’ The Powerpuff Girls and Ben 10 and Cartoon Network Europe’s The Amazing World of Gumball have been a viewing rating successes for free-to-air children’s channels in countries across the European continent. The Powerpuff Girls has had a successful start in Italy on Boing, a free-to-air digital terrestrial channel operated by a joint-venture by Mediaset and Turner, within its first month of airing on the channel, the show was in third place among children and second place among girls.

On French children’s channel – Gulli, The Powerpuff Girls manage to achieve an 19.1% audience share, up from a 17.1% channel average. The Powerpuff Girls and The Amazing World of Gumball has helped Gulli into first place among housewives with kids on Sunday 11th June and is consistently the top channel for kids aged between four and ten years old. On PULS 2 in Poland, the show was ranked in second place among young girls during its launch month and was beating channel averages among children and girls.

In the UK, on free-to-air children’s channel CITV (with a simulcast on the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster – ITV) the new Ben 10 series has reached 1.2 million viewers and 9% of Boys aged 4 to 9 years old. Ben 10 also achieved an 18.7% audience share on Gulli in France and was ranked the #2 Kids broadcast on Boing in Italy on its premiere day. Since the rollout of the new Ben 10 series on Cartoon Network feeds across the EMEA area in October 2016, Ben 10 has reached 50% of Boys in South Africa, Romania, Spain and Portugal, and more than 1 in 3 Boys in Hungary, Poland and Sweden.

On the free-to-air kids channel – DR Ultra in Denmark, The Amazing World of Gumball beaten the channel’s average viewing share by 56% during the first quarter of 2017 it’s also the channel’s most popular show. Adventure Time outperformed the channel’s average by 14% among children. On Gulli in France, The Amazing World of Gumball is ranked in fourth place among kids aged between 4 and 14 years old with Adventure Time achieving a 19% audience share.

Turner’s Cartoon Network has been enjoying a raft of strong free-to-air performances from key franchises across Europe it announced today, as the company continues to secure new broadcast and licensing partners across the region.

The brand-new series of The Powerpuff Girls, which made its global return to Cartoon Network in April 2016, has since reached millions of new viewers and beaten average audience figures on a number of its new free-to-air homes, including: CITV (and ITV simulcast) in the UK, where it became the #1 commercial show for girls 4-9 when it launched in Q4 2016 and has since reached over two million viewers and 13% of Kids 4-9; Gulli in France where it won a 19% audience share, an increase on the channel’s average audience share of 17.1%; and PULS 2 in Poland, performing above channel average among Kids (+13%) and Younger Kids (+38%), and ranking the #2 show among Young Girls in its launch month. Added to this, the series also enjoyed a strong six-week launch on Turner and Mediaset’s joint venture free-to-air channel Boing in Italy, ranking #3 with Kids and #2 with Girls.

Together with The Amazing World of Gumball and French-Canadian animated series Totally Spies, The Powerpuff Girls also allowed Gulli to rank #1 among Housewives with Kids on Sunday 11th June and consistently the #1 channel for Kids 4-10* – a double record for Gulli among both Mums and Kids!

Meanwhile, the all-new series of the worldwide phenomenon Ben 10 has also been delivering strong audience figures across the region. On CITV (and ITV simulcast) it has reached 1.2m viewers and 9% of Boys 4-9, achieved an 18.7% audience share on Gulli and ranked the #2 Kids broadcast on Boing in Italy on its premiere day. Cartoon Network’s longer-running franchises, The Amazing World of Gumball and Adventure Time continue to achieve in free-to-air too. Among other successes, Q1 2017 saw Gumball deliver +56% on Danish FTA channel DR Ultra’s average Kid audience, ranking the channel’s #1 show, whilst Adventure Time outperformed the channel average by +14% among Young Kids. Both shows have also been key contributors on Gulli, with Gumball ranking #4 among Kids 4-14 and Adventure Time delivering a 19% audience share.

Cartoon Network recently announced that it had greenlit a second season of its all-new Ben 10 series, as well as a live-action gameshow, entitled Ben 10 Challenge, which is currently in production in Madrid, in eight languages (Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and Turkish).

* Share achieved by PPG among HWS+K is double that of Totally Spies (12.4% vs. 6%). This is also true of Gumball whose share ranges between 13.5% and 17.1%.
