Cyber Group Studios Hosts The Semi-Final Round Of The International Emmy Kids Awards For The Seventh Time

On Monday (25th June) this week, Cyber Group Studios, the animation studio behind the new season of Boomerang’s The Happos Family and Taffy, a brand new animated show coming soon to Boomerang, held the Semi-Final round of judging of the International Emmy® Kids Awards in two categories: Kids Preschool and Kids Animation.

The ceremony was hosted by Pierre Sissmann, the chairman and CEO of Cyber Group Studios) under the supervision of Emmy Judging Director – Nathaniel Brendel. The jury composed of more than twenty influential TV executives from various major broadcasters, including Turner (the owners of Cartoon Network and Boomerang). The jury had representatives from Turner’s France and Africa region and also from the London, UK based EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) team. Jury members include Head of Channels for France, Africa and Israel – Julien Borde, Patricia Hidalgo – Senior Vice President and Chief Content and Creative Officer for Kids EMEA and International Kids Strategy and also Cecilia Persson – Vice President of Programming and Content Strategy EMEA and Acquisitions and Co-Productions International.

The jury spent the entire day screening shows and judging. The programme with the highest score will be put through to the final round of judging. The winner will be announced at The International Emmy® Kids Awards during the MIPTV convention in Cannes, France in April 2019.

On Monday June 25th, 2018, Cyber Group Studios held for the seventh time the Semi-Final round of judging of the International Emmy® Kids Awards in two categories: Kids Preschool and Kids

The jurors devoted the entire day to the screening and judging process. Tabulations are done by the accounting firm Ernst & Young LLP. The program with the highest score will be proceeded to the Final round of judging. The winner will be announced at The International Emmy® Kids Awards during the Cannes Miptv in April 2019.

Equal gender rights is currently a main subject within the media industry, whether it’s against the discrimination of woman or equal pay. Cartoon Network is an all-inclusive employer and does not discriminate on gender, sexual orientation, race or disability, they’re only interested if job candidates and employees have the skills for the job and if they’re a good fit for the company. To help tackle this ongoing issue, Cartoon Network is making an effort for the next generation of animation talent to break though, especially woman who aspire to work in the animation industry. Some of the most influential people working at the channel are in fact female, including the President of Cartoon Network – Christina Miller and also Rebecca Sugar – the creator of Steven Universe, who is also Cartoon Network’s first ever female solo show creator.

During the Annecy Animation Festival and side event MIFA (French: Marché international du film d’animation, English: International Animation Film Market) which is running throughout this week (Monday 11th to Saturday 16th June) The network has promised to fund and support a female animation student at The Animation Workshop animation school in Denmark. The co-creator of Cartoon Network’s The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe” – Eva Lee Wallberg attended the same school.

At Annecy on Thursday 14th June, there will be a special panel organised by Cartoon Network celebrating woman in the animation industry called “Cartoon Network Celebrate Women in the World of Animation”, speaking at the event will be Eva Lee Wallberg – the creator of The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, Lauren Sassen – the creative director for Cartoon Network Studios’ We Bare Bears, Julia Pott – the creator of Cartoon Network’s newest animated series – Summer Camp Island and Patricia Hidalgo – Chief Content Officer, Turner EMEA & International Kids Strategy. The identity of CN’s first female Animation Workshop bursary recipient will be announced during the panel on Thursday. Today (11th June), industry groups Women in Animation and Les Femmes S’Animent held their world summit at the festival.

From Next Monday (11th June) to Saturday 16th June, is this year’s Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France. The Annecy Animation Festival is considered to be one of the largest and influential animation industry events in the world, the festival is an opportunity for animation studios to promote their work, for broadcasters to buy new shows, for studios to seek new talent or for potential show creators to find inspiration. The festival is also one of the most important events on Cartoon Network’s yearly calendar.

As with recent years at the Annecy Animation Festival, there will some Cartoon Network related events which will be mostly held on Thursday 14th June. On Thursday at 9.30am, there will be a session with Pablo Zuccarino, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cartoon Network Latin America.

This year’s theme at the Annecy Animation Festival is Brazilian animation and three Cartoon Network Brazil shows will be showcased at the festival (along with the aforementioned Jorel’s Brother series) – Oswaldo, Mônica Toy (Turma da Mônica/Monica’s Gang spin-off) and Historietas Assombradas para Crianças Maleriadas (Haunted Tales for Wicked Kids).
