Cartoon Network Asia Pacific Celebrates 20 Years Of The Powerpuff Girls With #Empowerpuff Campaign

Yesterday (Friday 9th March) was International Women’s Day and Cartoon Network officially celebrated the birthday of The Powerpuff Girls in Asia with its #Empowerpuff campaign. The campaign is a movement that embraces empowerment and puts young girls and women who are Asia’s game changers into the spotlight.

It’s been over 20 years (as a full series) since superhero trio first used their special powers to save the world before bedtime, time literally flies as fast as the Powerpuff Girls themselves. The series will include Singapore’s crochet artist @kllylmrck (Kelly Limerick) and Instagram baker @Susanne.Decochiffon, in addition to other influencers in the Philippines. Each woman taking part in the #Empowerpuff campaign will share their life-stories and will partner up with Cartoon Network to create bespoke experiences, content and products.

For the campaign, Cartoon Network has already released a new Powerpuff Girls themed music video, featuring the work of five young female animators from different parts of the world including Delfina Perez Adan from Argentina; Dahee Jeong from South Korea; Xiya Lan from China; Réka Bucsi from Hungary and from the United States – Jasmin Lai and Marlène Beaube.

The campaign also includes the launch of the Empowerpuff Internship, which aims to attract writers, video editors, illustrators and graphic designers to create original content for social media channels.
