We Bare Bears Wins Two 2017 Kidscreen Awards

Cartoon Network Studios’ We Bare Bears has won two awards at the 2017 Kidscreen Awards, the award ceremony was held at Kidscreen Summit 2017 in Miami, Florida yesterday (14/02/2017). We Bare Bears won awards for Best Animated Series for kids and for best writing. Congratulations to the show’s creator – Daniel Chong and to the show’s writing and production team for their creativity, talent and hard work.

We Bare Bears follows three bear brothers with distinct personalities, they try their best to fit into human society either by making friends, doing different jobs and they even try to seek internet stardom, but their animal instincts always seem to take hold of them which usually leads to humorous consequences. Even though they struggle, they always have each other for support. We Bare Bears also won the Best International Kids Show award at the 2016 Children’s BAFTA’s in London, UK last November.

The Kidscreen Awards is organised by children’s media news website – Kidscreen, the awards celebrates the best in children’s TV production, broadcasting and digital media. The ceremony was hosted by Canadian comedian Darrin Rose and all children’s programming nominations were reviewed and assessed by a panel of children’s media industry executives from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.

Cartoon Network UK 2016 Childrens BAFTA Press Release

Cartoon Network UK has posted their own press release regarding their three Children’s BAFTA wins on Sunday (20/11/2016), so far, Cartoon Network have won a total of thirteen Children’s BAFTAs to date. We Bare Bears winning best international TV show was an remarkable achievement, especially as the category was full of tough competition, with likes of Australian teen-drama Nowhere Boys, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and Nick Jr’s/CBeebies’ Peter Rabbit.

The Amazing World of Gumball had to compete against Shaun the Sheep, Stick Man and Disney XD’s Counterfeit Cat for best British animated show. Since its world premiere on Cartoon Network UK in 2011, The Amazing World of Gumball has won an amazing total of eight Children’s BAFTAs.

A whopping three awards for the top kids channel with We Bare Bears named Best International show and The Amazing World of Gumball; Best Writer and Best Animation.

UK-produced The Amazing World of Gumball was the big winner at last night’s (20/11/2016) Children’s BAFTA Awards scooping Best Writer and Best Animation and elevating the popular comedy cartoon’s all-time total BAFTA tally to eight. And Cartoon Network didn’t stop there with a win for hilarious cartoon, We Bare Bears in the Best International show category.

We Bare Bears charts the adventures of three adoptive bear brothers as they attempt to integrate as humans in the big city. The series beat off stiff competition in the international category from Nowhere Boys, SpongeBob SquarePants and Peter Rabbit. The Amazing World of Gumball, which follows the antics of blue cat Gumball Watterson and his adoptive goldfish brother Darwin, was up against the likes of Shaun the Sheep, Stick Man and Disney XD’s Counterfeit Cat.

The Amazing World of Gumball and We Bare Bears are shining examples of everything Cartoon Network stands for – funny, irreverent and unique shows that appeal the world over. Rapper Doc Brown hosted the ceremony which took place at The Roundhouse in Camden, London with long-time favourites, The Powerpuff Girls putting in a surprise appearance on the red carpet much to the delight of waiting fans.

These latest accolades bring Cartoon Network’s award-wins to 13 this year alone.

Last night (20/11/2016) at the Roundhouse Theatre in London was the 2016 Children’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards and Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball won two awards; one for best British animated show and one for best children’s television show writing! Congratulations to Ben Bocquelet and to all of the production team that work on the show, including animators, writers, producers and voice actors. Cartoon Network UK lost out to CBeebies for best UK children’s channel, but congratulations for being nominated anyway.

We Bare Bears also won the award for best international children’s show, congratulations to Daniel Chong and his team at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, California. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Lego Dimensions won the award for best children’s video game and the special award was awarded to Peter Western known for his animation work on Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Warner Bros’s Space Jam and The Snowman and The Snowdog.

Congratulations to everyone who won a BAFTA award last night and to anyone who was nominated at this year’s Children’s BAFTA awards!
