It’s a busy week for Chilean animation fans, as Chilemonos Animation Festival 2018 and Chile Comic Con 2018 are running at the same time, plus there’s Cartoon Network events at both!

Tomorrow (12th May), the creator of Cartoon Network’s Cow and Chicken and I am Weasel – David Feiss will be speaking at the Chilemonos Animation Festival, the special masterclass event will take place at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre in Santiago at 3pm, a Question and Answer session with David Feiss was already held on Wednesday 9th May.

This year’s Chilemonos Animation Festival started on Tuesday 8th May and will end tomorrow (Saturday 12th May). Cartoon Network Latin America held their third annual animation pitch contest at Chilemonos’ MAI (Spanish acronym: Mercado de Animación Industria, English: Animation Industry Market) yesterday (10th May), this was an opportunity for aspiring animated show creators to pitch their ideas to Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network will be at Chile Comic Con 2018 this weekend starting from today (Friday 11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May), the convention is held at the Espacio Riesco convention centre in Santiago. Cartoon Network is also sponsoring the event.

Cartoon Network Animation Pitch Competition At Chilemonos Animation Festival 2017

Cartoon Network Latin America will be present at the Chilemonos Animation Festival in Santiago, Chile to host an Animation Pitch competition, giving one lucky cartoon creator out of eight finalists the opportunity to create an animated short with Cartoon Network to the value of $3,000 (USD). Eight final projects will be put forward to four Cartoon Network executives, who will ultimately decide the winner. All eight finalists must be present at the animation festival. The proposed animated short must be suitable and entertaining for children aged between seven and twelve years old, each animated short idea will be judged based on originality, audience suitability, story tone, content and aesthetics.

Animation pitch applications can be submitted via the MAI (Mercado Animación Industria, In English: Animation Industry Market) section of the Chilemonos animation festival website. Any supporting supplementary documentation such as Word, JPEGs, PDF and PowerPoint documents and Dropbox and Vimeo links must be submitted via e-mail.

The competition is open to residents of the following countries: Argentina, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia, Uruguay or Venezuela.

Competition ends 13th May with the announcement of the winner at Chilemonos (Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral), all submissions close 20th April. The Chilemonos Animation Festival will take place between 9th and 14th May.
