The Amazing World Of Gumball Appeared On Jimmy Kimmel Live

This week, a short clip from Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball appeared in an episode of ABC’s late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the clip was used in a humorous segment called “Unnecessary Censorship”. The clip that was used came from the episode “The Upgrade”, where Gumball and Darwin take Bobert the Robot to the Bobert Store for a software downgrade. As the name of the segment suggests, Gumball’s words are unnecessarily censored.

The actual dialogue from the actual episode, censored words in bold:

Gumball: Uh, what? What’s that?

Cody (Bobert Store Assistant): That would be my behind, sir.

Gumball: Oh. What’s that, then? (Removed from the clip)

Cody: That would be my nose, sir. (Removed from the clip)

Gumball: And that?

Cody (Bobert Store Assistant): That’s my ponytail.

Gumball: Ew! I can’t believe I touched a ponytail with my bare hands!

In the South Park season 20 finale – “The End Of Serialization As We Know It” which aired last November on Comedy Central, The Amazing World of Gumball was listed in Ike’s (Kyle’s little brother) internet search history.

On Monday this week (6/02/2017), The Amazing World of Gumball episode – “The Copycats” premiered on Cartoon Network USA. The episode featured characters based from the Chinese Gumball ripoff – Miracle Star, which not only features similar character designs, but also the similarities in scenes and the whole mixed-media concept from the show. In the episode, Chi Chi (a goat) and Ribbit (a frog) are copycat versions of Gumball and Darwin and they literally copy everything they do. Miracle Star was “created” by Sanyuan Group to promote their milk product of the same name in China.

This was also the last episode Jacob Hopkins and Terrell Ransom Jr. voiced Gumball and Darwin, and was Nicolas Cantu’s and Donielle T. Hansley Jr.’s first episode voicing the two main characters.
