BOOM! Studios (the comic book publisher of Cartoon Network’s many animated shows including Adventure Time and Steven Universe), has released the first issue of a new short comic book series based on Cartoon Network Studios’ critically acclaimed and Creative Arts Emmy award-winning miniseries – Over The Garden Wall. The limited comic book series published under BOOM!’s imprint – Kaboom, will consist of five issues and issue one was released in the United States yesterday (19th September) is now available at comic book stores and also BOOM! Studio webstore. Digital copies can be purchased through comiXology, iBooks, Google Play and the BOOM! Studios app. The new comic book series is released just in time for Autumn and before Halloween.

In the new comic book series – “Over The Garden Wall: Hollow Town” Wirt, Greg, and Beatrice return to the Unknown and come across a small town inhabited by creepy doll-people. But after Greg loses a shoe, it’s up to Wirt to earn money for a new pair, leading him to babysit some doll-children that may cause Wirt to stay in town forever. The comic book series is written by (Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Fairies) with art by Jorge Monlongo (The Powerpuff Girls comic book series).

The first issue of Over The Garden Wall: Hollow Town features main cover art also by Celia Lowenthal as well as variant covers by Natalie Hall (Adventure Time) and Miguel Mercado (Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers).

BOOM! Comics, Cartoon Network And Hero Initiative Team Up For The Adventure Time 100 Comic Cover Project

BOOM! Studios, Cartoon Network USA and Hero Initiative, a charity that helps comic book creators in medical and financial need, have announced “The Adventure Time 100 Project”. The Adventure Time 100 Project is a new graphic novel based on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and will be released in May 2018, the novel will be published under BOOM! Comics’s children’s imprint – kaboom!. Hero Initiative is known for its “100 Project” format, which invites one hundred artists from around the world to create original comic covers, but this time on the blank variant cover editions of Adventure Time issue #36.

Artists Jeffrey Brown (Vader’s Little Princess), John Cassaday (Star Wars), Emi Lenox (Plutona), Whilce Portacio (Uncanny X-Men), Bill Sienkiewicz (Elektra: Assassin), Walt Simonson (Thor) and many more have all provided cover art for the project. The original art from The Adventure Time 100 Project will be auctioned off starting from Saturday 2nd June 2018 during a launch party event at Challengers Comics in Chicago, auctions will continue online after the launch party.

“Adventure Time does that sublime job of appealing to kids and adults at the same time. It’s great to see artists who appeal to all ages lend their talents to this as well, Challengers does the same kind of job, with a separate-but-attached store for kids next door called Sidekicks.
