Management Shakeup At Cartoon Network Brazil

Following the management changes at Cartoon Network Latin America, with Barry Koch, the Senior Vice President of Cartoon Network Latin America leaving Turner at the end of March, Turner Latin America has also announced that Gustavo Diament, General Manager of Turner Brazil, Rogério Gallo, vice president of film and series channels (TCM, TBS and TNT) and Daniela Vieira, content director of children’s channels will be also leaving.

The significant changes were announced by Whit Richardson, the new president of Turner Latin America. No management replacements have been announced yet, but top tier management should be replaced quickly especially with changes of this magnitude. For three years running, Cartoon Network’s channels in Latin America were the most successful pay-tv children’s channels in the region.

Ginga The Jaguar, the official mascot for the Brazilian Olympics team will feature in a set of eleven thirty-second animated shorts which will air on Cartoon Network Brazil just before the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in August. The announcement was made at the annual Corrida Cartoon Network running event in Rio de Janeiro yesterday (19/06/2016).

The Brazil Olympic Committee chose a Jaguar to represent their team to raise awareness about this near-threatened and athletic animal that lives in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest. The committee is working with ARCA Brasil (the Humanitarian Association for the Protection and Welfare of Animals of Brazil) and other conservation organisations to save the animal and its habitat.

Daniela Vieira, senior director of content for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Tooncast in Brazil made this statement in regards to the addition of the Olympic team mascot on Cartoon Network Brazil (translated):

“It is an honor to participate in this event and present to Cartoon Network’s audience all the Olympic mascots, and even now, with Ginga, representing Brazilian athletes”.

Cartoon Network Brazil is currently airing animated shorts featuring Vinicius and Tom, the official mascots of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, making Cartoon Network Brazil, the animated home of all three Brazilian Olympic mascots.
