Yesterday (21/06/2016), Warner Bros’ consumer products division made an announcement of its current and new TV shows and movies available to potential merchandise licencees at the 2016 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas this week (21/06/2016 – 23/06/2016). New properties include DC Super Hero Girls, Mattel is the toy partner of this property and will launch a toy range in July. Another new property that has merchandising potential is the upcoming Justice League Action series as well as the new fully CGI Scooby-Doo movie – S.C.O.O.B, other upcoming movies include The Lego Ninjago Movie and The Lego Batman Movie. Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo and Tom and Jerry remain to be cross-generational hot properties.

According to Toy News International, Boomerang USA will premiere a 44-minute DC Super Hero Girls special this Spring, the animated special is made in partnership with Warner Bros. Animation and Mattel’s Playground Productions. The DC Super Hero Girls animated special will feature female characters from DC Comics, including Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Batgirl. Also, DC Super Hero Girls animated shorts will appear on the Cartoon Network App in the United States.

The new animated special will promote DC Comics/Warner Bros’ and Mattel’s latest toy, clothing and accessories range of the same name and will be sold exclusively at Target in the United States. Also, a DC Super Hero Girls App will be released this month, enabling the user to experience the DC Super Hero Girls universe, featuring video clips and games.

Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment, President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products and President & Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment made this statement regarding the DC Super Hero Girls exclusive retail deal with American retailer Target:
