Today (17th April), Turner EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) has launched a high definition feed of Boomerang Central Eastern Europe which is now available to viewers in Poland. Plans for an HD version of Boomerang CEE were announced in October last year. The channel also broadcasts to a large chunk of Europe including Hungary, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and also to the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders Region) in Western Europe, but no plans of the HD feed being distributed in these countries has been announced yet.

The channel also made the switch to 16:9 widescreen on Wednesday 4th April in preparation for the launch of the HD feed. Viewers in Poland are now able to enjoy animated shows such as New Looney Tunes, Bunnicula and Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz in High Definition. On Monday 7th May, the standard definition feed of Boomerang CEE will be switched off in Poland, ending the full transition to high definition.

Matthias Heinze, the general manager of Turner Central and Eastern Europe made this statement in regards of the new Boomerang HD feed (translated):

“We want to constantly strengthen Boomerang’s position in the Polish market. Fans of classic cartoons should expect a few new products to be introduced on the channel this summer, including the transition to HD quality. One thing will stay the same: all the time we want to provide viewers with a source of carefree, family entertainment that every child needs.”

Movie Premiere

Dolphin Tale 2

Premieres Friday 20th April at 2pm.

A story of perseverance, courage and hope

Several years have passed since young Sawyer Nelson and the dedicated team at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium rescued Winter, a young dolphin who lost her tail after being entangled in a crab trap. With the help of Dr. Cameron McCarthy, who developed a unique prosthetic tail for Winter, they saved her life against all odds. In turn, she helped save the Aquarium – as people came from far and wide to see the courageous dolphin firsthand. Yet their fight is not over. Winter’s mother, the elderly dolphin Panama, passes away, leaving Winter alone and grieving, unwilling to engage with anyone. However, the loss of Panama may have even greater repercussions: Winter is required to be moved from the Aquarium because regulations require these social creatures to be paired. If they don’t find a female companion for her – one that she accepts – the Aquarium will lose their beloved Winter. But as time runs out, there is still hope…
