Yesterday (8th November), the European Animation Awards board announced the nominations for the 2018 Emile Awards in Athens, Greece. The EAA board has announced that Cartoon Network Studios Europe’s and Sun Creature Studio’s The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe has been nominated in four 2018 Emile Awards categories. The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe has received nominations in the Best Direction – In a TV/Broadcast Production, Best Storyboard – In A TV/Broadcast Production, Best Character Animation – In a TV/Broadcast Production and Best Background & Character Design – In a TV/Broadcast Production categories.

The Emile Awards celebrates excellence in the European animation industry, nominees can range from animated shorts from independent studios to full-scale mass-media productions. The inaugural Emile Awards were held in December 2017 in Lille, France. Last year Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball received four nominations and won the award in the Best Writing in a TV/Broadcast Production category. The 2018 Emile Awards will be held on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December at the Le Nouveau Siècle building complex in Lille, France.

Last night (08/12/2017), was the inaugural European Animation Awards ceremony (also referred to the Emile Awards) in Lille, France and Cartoon Network EMEA’s (Europe, Middle East and Africa) The Amazing World of Gumball has won an award in the “Best Writing in a TV/Broadcast Production” category. The Amazing World of Gumball was also nominated in the “Character Animation in a TV/Broadcast Production” and “Best TV/Broadcast Production” but lost out to Revolting Rhymes. Gumball was also nominated in the “Best Storyboard in a TV/Broadcast Production” category but lost to Shawn The Sheep.

Although this year was the first ever Emile Awards, there was some tough competition, congratulations to Ben Bocquelet and the Gumball writing team for winning the Best TV Writing (for an European produced animated show) award and for achieving a total of four nominations.

Last Friday (1st December), the show’s creator – Ben Bocquelet has announced that he’s finished writing the script for the final episode of The Amazing World of Gumball, although the script-writing for the show has finished, it still be quite some time before the series ends on television.

Cartoon Network EMEA’s (Europe, Middle East and Africa) The Amazing World of Gumball has been awarded four Emile Awards nominations. The Emile Awards is a brand new awards event which celebrates excellence in the European animation industry, nominees range from animated shorts from independent studios to full-scale mass-media productions. The first ever Emile Awards ceremony will be held on Friday 8th December at the Le Nouveau Siècle building complex in Lille, France. The Amazing World of Gumball has been nominated in the “Best TV/Broadcast Production”, “Best Writing in a TV/Broadcast Production”, “Best Storyboard in a TV/Broadcast Production” and “Best Character Animation in a TV/Broadcast Production” categories.

The Amazing World of Gumball is known for its wide range of unique characters, its mixed-media approach of combining 2D and 3D animation with real world photographic backgrounds, various art styles and its funny and satirical humour that appeals to both children and adults. The Amazing World of Gumball is produced at Cartoon Network’s studio in London, UK, with some animation work carried out by Studio Soi in Germany.

Boomerang EMEA’s My Knight and Me has been nominated two Emile Awards, in both “Best Writing in a TV/Broadcast Production” and “Best Soundtrack in a TV/Broadcast Production” categories. My Knight and Me is a 3D CGI animated show co-produced by Thuristar in Flanders, Belgium and TeamTO Animation in France. The show is set in the Dark Ages and follows the humorous adventures of Jimmy The Squire, his dad – the knight Henri of Orange and Princess Cat in their efforts to protect the Kingdom of Epic from witches, dragons and giants.
