Two Brand New Animated Shows Coming Soon To Adult Swim USA: The Shivering Truth And Tigtone

Today (8th August), Cartoon Network USA’s night-time young adult entertainment block – Adult Swim has announced they’ve greenlit two brand new animated shows – The Shivering Truth and Tigtone.

The Shivering Truth is described as a “delicately crafted, surreal anthology comedy”, the new animated show is based around a loosely connected series of emotional parables originating from the subconscious mind. The Shivering Truth is created and written by Vernon Chatman, the new show will be directed by Vernon Chatman and also Cat Solen. The new show is executive produced by PFFR (producers of Adult Swim’s mini-series – Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter) with Cat Solen. The new show will be animated by ShadowMachine, the same studio behind Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken and TBS’s Final Space. The Shivering Truth is currently in production and will premiere later in 2018 on Adult Swim in the United States.

Tigtone is a brand new medieval themed quarter-hour length animated series created by Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martin, who also serve as executive producers along with Blake Anderson (co-creator of Comedy Central’s Workaholics). Tigtone follows the eponymous quest-addicted hero in a saga filled with adventure taking place in a satirical fantasy universe. The series features many references from fantasy role playing games, video games, and films. The new series will feature highly rendered, hand-painted fantasy art, motion capture acting, 2D animation and 3D-like visual effects. The new animated series will be animated by Titmouse, the same studio behind Adult Swim’s The Venture Bros and Ballmastrz: 9009. Tigtone will premiere on Adult Swim USA in 2019.

Also check out new episodes of The Venture Bros, now airing Sundays at midnight, only on Adult Swim in the United States.

From The Turner Press Release: Adult Swim Orders Two New Original Animated Series

Going all in on the medieval and surreal, Adult Swim announced today they have greenlit two new original series with different animation styles, The Shivering Truth and Tigtone.

The Shivering Truth is a delicately crafted, surreal anthology comedy, a miniature propulsive omnibus clusterbomb of painfully riotous daymares, all dripping with the orange goo of dream logic. It is a series of loosely-linked emotional parables about stories within tales that crawled out of the deepest caverns of your unconscious mind and became lovingly animated in breath-slapping stop motion — in other words, it is the TRUTH.

Created and written by Vernon Chatman, who also serves as director with Cat Solen, the series is executive produced by PFFR (Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter, Xavier: Renegade Angel) with Solen. The animation studio is Shadow Machine. The Shivering Truth is currently in production and will premiere later this year.

Next, Adult Swim goes totally medieval with Tigtone, a new quarter-hour animated series created by Andrew Koehler and Benjamin Martin, who also serve as executive producers with Blake Anderson (Workaholics).

Tigtone is the saga of a quest-addicted hero (Tigtone) who slashes his way through a satirical fantasy universe with melodramatic ferocity and a complete disregard for the collateral damage he inflicts along the way. The series both celebrates and subverts tropes of the fantasy genre, role playing games, video games, and films.

Combining highly rendered, hand-painted fantasy art, motion capture performance, 2D animation, and pseudo-3D visual effects, the wizards at Titmouse have ventured into uncharted territory to pioneer this radical new style, creating a Tigtone universe that is beautifully unsettling. The new comedy series debuts on Adult Swim in 2019.
