Today (19/01/2018), the nomination list for the 29th Annual GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards was publicly released and Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe has been nominated in a brand new category created for the 2018 awards – “Outstanding Kids And Family Programming”, the GLAAD Media Awards celebrated the best of television and film with character representation from the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) community. Last year, Steven Universe was nominated for GLAAD Media Award in the “Outstanding Comedy Series” category.

Steven Universe will competing against other nominees in the same category including Disney Channel’s Andi Mack, Amazon’s Danger and Eggs, Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins and Nickelodeon’s The Loud House.

The 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday 12th April and at the Hilton Midtown hotel in New York on Saturday 5th May.

This week, the nominee list for the 28th Annual GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards was publicly released and Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe has been nominated in the “Outstanding Comedy Series” category, the GLAAD Media Awards celebrated the best of television and film with character representation from the LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) community.

The gems featured in the show are technically genderless, but they’re perceived and appear to be female, the relationship between Ruby and Sapphire (the two gems that fused together to form the defacto leader of the Crystal Gems – Garnet) has been an important running plot device throughout the show’s run so far.

The 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Saturday 1st April and at the Hilton Midtown hotel in New York on Saturday 6th May.
