Cartoon Network USA App Now Has Chromecast Support

Cartoon Network USA’s live streaming and VOD (video on-demand) app now has Google Chromecast support. Any TV with a Chromecast dongle can now stream episodes from the app on a smartphone or tablet, users can push a video onto a Chromecast device by simply pressing the Cast button. Cartoon Network has also added 40 new stickers for iOS users and features designs from Cartoon Network’s top shows including Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, Steven Universe and Teen Titans Go!.

The app was updated on Thursday this week (18/05/2017). Chromecast support on the Cartoon Network App was one of the most requested features by users and follows the Apple TV’s TV app integration update which was released last month.

Today (28/03/2017), it was announced that Cartoon Network Studios’ The Powerpuff Girls has won a 2017 Gracie Award in the “Best National Family Series” category. The Gracie Awards recognises high-quality programming created by women, for women and about women in media and entertainment. A Gracie Award is often considered to be a media career (and life) highlight, the award is an acknowledgement from peers and industry leaders.

The Powerpuff Girls follows three superheroines named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, the girls use their powers to fight evil and crime in Townsville while balancing a normal childhood and schoolwork. The Powerpuff Girls are seen as a positive role model and inspiration for girls (and boys) everywhere with a focus on creativity, expression, empowerment and fun.

Cartoon Network USA will be airing a brand new episode of The Powerpuff Girls called “Clawdad” this Friday (31/03/2017) at 7.45pm ET/PT, in this episode, Buttercup attempts to capture a legendary uncatchable crawdad at the lake.

Captain Planet Available For Digital Download On 10th April

Captain Planet, the animated show from the early 1990’s about the eponymous environmental superhero will be released for digital download in the United States on 10th April. The show was co-created by Ted Turner (the founder and original owner of Turner Broadcasting System, which also included Cartoon Network while it was in its early formative years), who is known to this day for his strong environmental beliefs and support for environmental causes, and also Barbara Pyle, an executive producer and environmental activist.

The show tackles environmental issues including pollution, radiation, deforestation, and poaching and follows the story of five teenagers called the “Planeteers” who try to save the planet from environmental devastation, each Planeteer possesses special powers, but when there’s a situation that’s too difficult to handle, they combine their powers to summon Captain Planet, a superhero that is greater than the sum of its parts, in other words, Captain Planet is a physical manifestation and representation of teamwork.

In a little while before Earth Day (22nd April), Cartoon Network USA will be releasing Captain Planet for digital download on 10th April, each season will cost $9.99 or $14.99 each, individual episodes will costs $1.99 and will be available to download on iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play, Vudu, Playstation Store, and the Xbox Store.
