Toonami Africa Channel Launched Today

Today (01/06/2017), Turner Broadcasting System Europe has launched an African version of the Toonami channel for English-speaking countries on the continent. Turner has partnered with pan-sub-Saharan satellite television provider Kwesé TV to distribute the brand new channel in English speaking Africa (excluding the Republic of South Africa). Toonami is the home of DC Comics superheroes including Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and action animation including Cartoon Network’s Ben 10, the channel has a target age group of children aged between six and twelve years old. The launch of the new channel continues Toonami’s expansion within the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Kwesé TV also added Cartoon Network, Boomerang and CNN International to its TV service after a channel distribution deal with Turner was announced last month. The channel launch also follows the introduction of Toonami France into the Francophone African television market in April last year.

Action animation and Japanese anime channel, Toonami India will be airing a Hindi language programming block every day between 6pm and 8pm from Monday 22nd August. At present, Toonami India only airs in English. Today (03/05/2016), Turner Broadcasting System Europe has announced that Toonami France is now available on Freebox, an IPTV provider, on channel 109. The new distribution deal between Free and Turner means more animated action for Freebox subscribers, viewers will get to enjoy action-packed animation from DC Comics and Cartoon Network Studios, including Batman, Superman, Ben 10, Justice League, Green Lantern, Teen Titans and many more.

Between Thursday 19th May and Monday 23rd May, Freebox will be having a free preview of the Toonami channel. Toonami is available on a la carte basis on Freebox for €0.99 per month.
