Cartoon Network And HowStuffWorks Partner On A New Podcast – Drawn: The Story Of Animation

Cartoon Network has partnered with HowStuffWorks, an educational website about how things work, to produce a special podcast called “Drawn: The Story of Animation”. The new podcast will launch on Tuesday 1st May and will consist of 11 episodes and will be a detailed analysis of animation from the prospective of the production crew, show creators, studio executives and the voice acting cast. Each episode will dive right into the history of animation, a creative form of entertainment that has developed exponentially over the past century. Podcast topics that will be explored include the cultural influence of animation, how cartoons are made, music in animation, consumer products, sound effects and woman in the animation industry.

HowStuffWorks is also the largest for-profit podcasting network, each episode of “Drawn” will be presented by Holly Frey, the host of HowStuffWorks’ very own “Stuff You Missed In History Class” podcast.

Thailand-based internet television service – AIS has signed a carriage deal with Turner Asia-Pacific for Cartoon Network and CNN. AIS Play and AIS Playbox customers will now be able to enjoy Cartoon Network’s current animated hits including Ben 10, The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, The Powerpuff Girls, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes and We Bare Bears, meanwhile CNN will offer news from around the world. In total, Turner has six channels carried on AIS which also includes Cartoon Network’s sister channel Boomerang, Warner TV and HLN.

Cartoon Network is now included in the Premier Full HD and Sportainment Full HD packages for AIS Play and the Platinum Full HD and Family Full HD packages for AIS Playbox. CNN is now included in the Premier Full HD package on AIS Play as well as the Platinum Full HD package in AIS Playbox.

Until Thursday 22nd February, AIS subscribers can enjoy Cartoon Network and CNN for free for both AIS Play and AIS Playbox.

YouTube’s live television subscription service in the United States – YouTube TV has added several channels in Turner USA’s broadcasting portfolio including children and young adult networks Cartoon Network and Adult Swim; general entertainment channels TNT, TBS and truTV; news channels CNN and HLN and movie archive channel – TCM. YouTube TV is planning to expand into the top 100 television markets in the United States. YouTube TV will be raising the subscription to $40 a month for new subscribers from 13th March, for the meantime existing subscribers will continue paying $35 a month.

YouTube TV’s new markets are as follows: Honolulu, Hawaii; Lexington, Kentucky.; Dayton, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; Burlington, Vermont; Plattsburgh, New York.; Richmond, Virginia; Petersburg, Virginia; Mobile, Alabama; Syracuse, New York; Champaign, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; Columbia, South Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Harlingen, Texas; Wichita, Kansas; Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; and Scranton, Pennsylvania.
