Cartoon Network’s New Talent And Interview With Nicole Rivera, Director Of Development At Cartoon Network Studios

Last Thursday (8th March), Cartoon Network Studios announced their largest animation slate ever, with new shows and continuing animated series, the channel has also been developing the next batch of animated programming from the next generation of creators, with stories relevant and reflective of children today. Cartoon Network often gives their own artists and show production staff opportunities to pitch new show ideas. If an idea for a show has potential, a pilot is made and if the pilot has a strong positive response from both fans and the channel’s management, the show is usually greenlit and becomes a fully-fledged animated series. A new alternative path of developing a show, is by creating a short animated series on Cartoon Network’s short-form animated content app – Cartoon Network Anything, this new approach was how Mighty Magiswords was initially developed.

Cartoon Network’s international divisions are always looking for new content to air on its television channels and digital services, new international content includes Cartoon Network Latin America’s Villainous and Cartoon Network Studios Europe’s The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe.

Cartoon Network’s new show creator talent include: Julia Pott (Summer Camp Island), Diego Molano (Victor and Valentino), Owen Dennis (Infinity Train), George Gendi (Apple and Onion) and Matt Burnett and Ben Levin (Craig of the Creek).
