Cartoon Network Latin America More Episodes Of Oswaldo Coming In 2019
The animation studio behind Cartoon Network Latin America’s Oswaldo – Birdo has partnered up with Symbiosys Entertainment in India to co-produce 39 new episodes of Oswaldo, the new episodes have already been pre-sold to Cartoon Network Latin America. The new episodes are expected to be ready for broadcast by April 2019. Oswaldo premiered on Cartoon Network Brazil on 11th October 2017. According to statistics from Brazilian television ratings organisation Ibope, the show became one of Cartoon Network Brazil’s top-five most-watched shows in 2017 for children aged between 4 to 11. The show also airs on free-to-air channel – TV Cultura in Brazil.
The partnership between Birdo and Symbiosys marks the first ever Brazilian/Indian cartoon co-production, production is already underway, with Birdo handling pre and post-production and Symbiosys handling animation. The show’s creator – Pedro Eboli will also be the head writer for the new episodes. The deal was organised by Brenda Wooding, the owner of Los Angeles-based Kid Glove, the show’s international distributor.
Oswaldo, the show’s titular character, is a 12 year old penguin who lives as a human boy, he was discovered by his adoptive parents on a beach in Rio de Janeiro when he was a baby, thousands of miles away from his real home in Antarctica. When Oswaldo started going to school, Oswaldo quickly learns more about the outside world and has lots of fun with his new friends in the boiling heat of Rio.
