The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) released their nominations list for the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards this morning (12/07/2018) at their headquarters in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. This year, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim have completely dominated the “Outstanding Short Form Animated Program” category with nominations for Cartoon Network Studios’ Adventure Time, Steven Universe and We Bare Bears, Warner Bros. Animation’s Teen Titans Go! (produced for Cartoon Network) and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios’ Robot Chicken (produced for Adult Swim).

Adventure Time has been nominated specifically for the episode “Ring of Fire”, Steven Universe has been nominated for the episode “Jungle Moon” and We Bare Bears has been nominated for the episode “Hurricane Hal”. Teen Titans Go! has been nominated for the “The Self-Indulgent 200th Episode Spectacular! special episode (Parts 1 and 2)” and finally Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken has been nominated for the “Freshly Baked: The Robot Chicken Santa Claus Pot Cookie Freakout” Christmas special.

Best of luck to the cast and production crews for Adventure Time, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go! and Robot Chicken, and also to creators and show developers – Pendleton Ward, Rebecca Sugar, Daniel Chong, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Seth Green and Matthew Senreich.

Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty has been nominated in the “Outstanding Animated Program Category”, specifically for the episode – “Pickle Rick”, best wishes to the cast, production crew and to show creators – Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. In the same category, Rick and Morty will compete against Disney XD’s Big Hero 6: The Series, FOX’s Bob’s Burgers, FOX’s The Simpsons and Comedy Central’s South Park. Rick and Morty has also been nominated in the “Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media Within A Scripted
Program” category for the virtual reality game – “Virtual Rick-ality” by Owlchemy Labs and Adult Swim Games.

This year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday 8th September and Sunday 9th September and will air on Saturday 15th September at 8pm on FXX in the United States.

Like previous years, Adult Swim will be at San Diego Comic Con 2018, one of the world’s most popular media conventions that celebrates everything from movies, TV shows, comics, animation and much more. This year’s convention will be held between Thursday 19th and Sunday 22nd July in San Diego, Califonia, USA. However, this year’s Adult Swim’s event will be slightly different from previous years, as convention visitors will enjoy a full Adult Swim themed outdoor camping experience at Adult Swim’s very own “State Park” just outside and behind the San Diego Convention Center at 5th Avenue Landing and Convention Way.

The camping event will start on Thursday and end on Sunday, with first look programming shown at night between Thursday and Saturday. The camping park will also include fun outdoor activities including canoe races and archery competitions and there will also be wood carvers using chainsaws to make sculptures. Lockers will be available on-site to keep fan’s items safe and secure while doing activities, there will also be a Hot Dogs roaster and a S’mores Station featuring fun-size Snickers bars for hungry campers. Campers can also collect merit badges, the more they experience at the camp, the more they earn.

Campers in the park (and like other adultswim.com viewers elsewhere within the United States) will enjoy live broadcasts of Adult Swim’s FishCenter, Stupid Morning Bullshit, Williams Street Swap Shop and more, every day from 3pm PT, from Thursday to Sunday.

In addition to the fun camping experience, Adult Swim fans will enjoy sneak peeks including latest episodes and pilots, celebrity-filled panels and free autograph signings including the cast, producers and creators of Adult Swim’s popular shows including Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros., FLCL and Dream Corp LLC. Also, not forgetting, the Rickmobile (a pop-up shop vehicle in the shape of Rick Sanchez that sells exclusive Rick and Morty merchandise) will be traveling around San Diego, Rick and Morty fans will be able to track the Rickmobile on social media.

Also, TBS’s sci-fi adult animated series – Final Space will having a Q&A panel and autograph signing session with show creator and voice of the show’s protagonist, Gary – Olan Rogers, executive producer and showrunner – David Sacks, Tika Sumpter – voice of Quinn, Tom Kenny – voice of HUE and Coty Galloway – voice of Avocato. Throughout the convention, there will also be a Final Space VR Adventure and Shop. Visitors will get to enjoyy four minutes in space with Mooncake, Gary and The Lord Commander. Cartoon Network’s worldwide hit show – We Bare Bears and Cartoon Network Latin America’s and Copa Studio’s Jorel’s Brother (Original Brazilian Portuguese Title: Irmão do Jorel) have been selected to be screened and showcased at Annecy Animation Festival 2018. Both We Bare Bears and Jorel’s Brother will both take part in the TV films competition. The Annecy Animation Festival is considered to be one of the largest and influential animation industry events in the world, the festival is an opportunity for animation studios to promote their work, for broadcasters to buy new shows, for studios to seek new talent or for potential show creators to find inspiration. The festival is also one of the most important events on Cartoon Network’s yearly calendar, the festival is held every year in Annecy, France and this year, it will take place between 11th and 16th June.

The episode of We Bare Bears that will be shown at the festival is the Annie Award winning episode – “Panda’s Art”, in the episode Panda paints a portrait of Charlie for his art class and gives it to Charlie as a gift. But after an art dealer offers to buy the painting, Panda has to get it back from Charlie. The episode of Jorel’s Brother that will be shown at the festival will be “Special Eject” (Original Brazilian Portuguese Title: Eject Especial), in the episode, a giant birthday cake, a puppet and Japanese heroes invade Japan after being ejected from a VCR where they were recorded. Jorel’s brother needs to race against time to save Japan.

Also, Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken is also in the “TV Films in Competition” category with their Walking Dead special – “Look Who’s Walking”, the episode is a parody of the hit horror show – The Walking Dead and is a collaboration between Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and The Walking Dead creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman and showrunner/executive producer Scott M. Gimple. The Walking Dead’s original cast also voice act their roles in the special.
