Cartoon Network USA March 2019 Highlights: International Woman’s Day Celebrations

Animation website and publication – Animation Magazine has published Cartoon Network USA’s highlights for March 2019. March is Girl Power Month on Cartoon Network with the premiere of the brand new show DC Super Hero Girls and also brand new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls premiering on Sundays at 4.30pm ET/PT from Sunday 17th March, also the very first Powerpuff Girl – Bliss will be returning in another new episode called “Lights Out” on Sunday 24th March. In “Lights Out”, a new gadget brings a little more power to Townsville than the superhero sisters anticipated.

DC Super Hero Girls will premiere on International Woman’s Day on Friday 8th March at 6pm ET/PT, starting off with the one-hour special “#SweetJustice” (DC Super Hero Girls episode titles follow a social media hashtag format). The new show features the superheroic teens – Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Bumblebee, Zatanna and the Green Lantern protecting the city of Metropolis while still having normal lives. On the day of the premiere and from 6am, Cartoon Network will be celebrating International Woman’s Day with an all-day marathon of new and classic episodes of Cartoon Network shows featuring strong female characters. CN will also be showcasing 60 episodes featuring the channel’s well known female cartoon characters onto the Cartoon Network app.

CN’s International Woman’s Day event will also apply to CN’s international feeds who will be running similar events. In the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, fans will enjoy exclusive YouTube content featuring the best Powerpuff Girls moments. In Italy, The Powerpuff Girls are teaming up with cosmetics company – L’Oreal for “A Beautiful Day” – an annual mother-daughter day at the L’Oreal Academy in Rome on Saturday 9th March. In the APAC (Asia Pacific) region on International Woman’s Day, CN will be launching their local version of the Empowerpuff campaign, a campaign that casts a spotlight on trailblazing individuals, plus an all-day marathon of The Powerpuff Girls. CN Latin America will also be airing an all-day The Powerpuff Girls marathon on the 8th March.

In the United States, fashion designer Christian Cowan will be launching his Powerpuff Girls clothing collection on 8th March in Los Angeles. The special collaboration will help raise funds for non-profit – She’s The First. The non-profit organisation helps young woman through the use of education, mentorship and leadership. Television news website – The Futon Critic and animation news website – Animation Magazine have posted info regarding new episodes on the Cartoon Network USA television channel during February 2019. During February, Cartoon Network USA will be airing new episodes of Craig of the Creek, Teen Titans Go! and We Bare Bears every Monday from Monday 4th February, plus new episodes of Unikitty! every weeknight. New episodes on Mondays starts off with a new episode of Craig of the Creek – “Deep Creek Salvage” on Monday 4th February at 5pm ET/PT, followed by a special episode of Unikitty! called “Batkitty” at 5.30pm ET/PT, featuring Lego Batman’s voice actor – Will Arnett (The LEGO Movie 1 & 2 and The LEGO Batman Movie). Later that evening at 7pm ET/PT, is a brand new episode of We Bare Bears – “The Mall”, featuring the singer – Estelle (singer of the We Bare Bears theme song and voice of Garnet from Steven Universe) as a fictional pop star version of herself – Estellar.

Today (10th January), Cartoon Network Studios has announced that they’ve renewed the popular animated sci-fi franchise Ben 10 for a fourth season, which means its still “hero time” at least for the foreseeable future, Ben 10 season four will debut in 2020. In the new season, Ben, his cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max will travel to different locations all over the world including Italy, Japan and Mexico. Season four will keep fans entertained with new alien transformations and alien battles, also Ben will find a special key that will upgrade his Omnitrix to add “Omni-Kix” armor enhancements to his aliens giving him some extra defence in battle.

Ben 10 is currently in its third season, more episodes will be airing later in January on Cartoon Network feeds in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, the United States and Latin America will follow in Feburary and the Asia-Pacific region in March. There’s plenty in the third season for fans to get excited about including new aliens, vehicles and villains and the debut of a new character that originated from the original series of Ben 10 before the reboot – Kevin 11, who will be Ben’s 11-year-old nemesis in upcoming episodes. Kevin 11 developed a custom version of the Omnitrix called the “Anti-trix” of which he can activate to produce alternative versions of Ben 10’s aliens. Season three will have a lot of travelling too, as Ben and his family will go on trips around the world on the new “Omni-Copter” and they will travel to Asia, Europe and South America.

In the third quarter of 2018, Ben 10 was watched by 128 million people with 56 million children watching the show worldwide. The show is produced by Cartoon Network Studios and created and executive produced by Man of Action Entertainment (Big Hero 6, Generator Rex, Mega Man: Fully Charged, Bakugan Battle Planet), with John Fang (Mixels, Generator Rex) as executive producer.
