Boomerang Japan Launches 30th January
Japanese mobile phone network operator – NTT DoCoMo has announced that they will be launching their brand new OTT (over-the-top) internet streaming television service – dTV Channel on Tuesday (30th January), Boomerang Japan will also be launching with the new service. For the first time in Japan, Boomerang, a sister channel to Cartoon Network, will be available as a separate television channel offering a mixture of classic and contemporary animation from Warner Bros. Animation as well as new shows from independent studios.
Boomerang Japan will air the following shows: The Looney Tunes Show, New Looney Tunes (formerly Wabbit!/Bugs!), Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo, Chowder, The Jetsons, Wacky Races, Young Justice, Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Turner will also be launching two other channels on the dTV platform – MONDO Mahjong TV and TABI Tele.
Other kids and anime channels that will be available on the service include Nickelodeon (relaunching in Japan), Animax and Disney Junior, in total, the service will offer 30 channels which includes Japanese originated channels and VOD services such as TBS On Demand, three channels from South Korea and also Japanese versions of famous international television brands including National Geographic, MTV Mix and History.
