Environmental superhero – Captain Planet will make a special appearance in a new episode of OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes which will air on Cartoon Network USA on Monday 9th October at 6.30pm ET/PT. Voice actors from the original early 1990’s Captain Planet and the Planeteers series, David Coburn (Captain Planet) and LeVar Burton (Kwame) will be reprising their roles for the new episode. The episode, of course, will have an environmental theme, Lord Boxman pollutes the air in the plaza and K.O., Enid, Rad, Kwame and Captain Planet must combine their powers to save the day.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers tackles environmental issues including pollution, radiation, deforestation, and poaching and follows the story of five teenagers called the “Planeteers” who combine their powers to summon Captain Planet, a superhero who uses his powers to the save the planet from environmental destruction.

The Captain Planet series was co-created by Ted Turner (the founder and original owner of Cartoon Network), who is known for his support for environmental causes, and also Barbara Pyle, an environmental activist.

Also from today, the first season of Captain Planet and the Planeteers is now available to stream on the Cartoon Network app in the United States.

Fourth Powerpuff Girl To Be Revealed In A Five-Part The Powerpuff Girls Special On Cartoon Network USA

Next Sunday (17th September) at 5.30pm ET/PT, Cartoon Network USA will airing a five-part special of The Powerpuff Girls called the “Power Of Four”. In the special, a fourth member of The Powerpuff Girls will be introduced, so far Cartoon Network in the United States has posted pictures of the character’s silhouette on social media with only the outline of the new character shown. Judging from the silhouette, at least it’s possible to tell that the new character will have the same character model as Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup. Apart from the fact that the new special is centred on the new character, information about the special’s plot is yet to be disclosed. Who knows who the new super-powered crime-fighter could be?

This isn’t the first time The Powerpuff Girls had a fourth member, fans who watched the original series may remember Bunny from the episode “Twisted Sister”, but due to her unstableness which was caused by being made with the wrong ingredients, she sadly died at the end of the episode. Another example is the episode “Knock It Off” where there were thousands of mass-produced Powerpuff Girls that were defective, but they weren’t officially part of the group. Princess Morbucks doesn’t count as she was rejected for being a jealous spoilt rich kid and for causing more harm than good.

Cartoon Network USA Teen Titans Go! Classic Titans New Episode Airs Friday 15th September

Cartoon Network USA will be premiering a brand new Teen Titans Go! episode on Friday 15th September at 6pm ET/PT, but this episode will be like no other. In the episode, a known nemesis of the Teen Titans – Control Freak attempts to prove his point about classic superhero cartoons by sending the Titans to a different version of the Teen Titans from the past.

The episode pays homage to the original Teen Titans DC Comics comic book series (including the 1980’s “New Teen Titans” version) and 1960’s action animation in general. Contrary to widespread rumours among animation fans on the internet, this episode is not a crossover featuring characters from the 2003 Teen Titans animated series.
